Those barrels are actually ‘laminated steel’ which, personally, I like better than Damascus.

Best Guess:
A Belgian made gun on a basic W. & C Scott action. Can we see the proofs on its barrel flats please? That will tell a better tale. |
yes - proofs please
according to the little gun site S.J. & D, this mark was deposited by company SIMONIS-JANSSEN & DUMOULIN of Liege which deposited eight patents of 1883 to 1886. http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge...oulin%20gb.htm |
You are in good company Thomas :)

The Continental was a name used by Great Western Gun Works [or similar] . Made in Belgium and retailed in the U.S. I have a fine example with gold accents. Early 1880s as I recall.

Nice.
The “Ptd. June 30, 1883” guns were likely Simonis, Janssen & Dumoulin http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge...oulin%20gb.htm |
