Wow!! It will be very difficult to follow that last new member posting! That is one awesome shotgun.. But I am very proud to be able to join this amazing association. I have for a long time appreciated these beautiful SxS shotguns but never had the courage to invest in such fine pieces of history. I just recently purchased my first graded shotgun from a dealer in the state of Washington.. It is a 12 ga GHE from 1909.. I am will be requesting a Research letter in the mail tomorrow and hope to see I have an original gun as described by the seller (with only a coat of varnish applied by some loving owner in the past). I don’t do internet forums until now and I don’t know how to post pictures yet but am trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. When I do figure this out I would welcome any criticism since I wish to learn as much as possible about these fine weapons. Thanks!

Welcome! Hey, if I can learn to post photos, anyone can. Looking forward to seeing your new-to-you piece of history. The first decade of the 20th Century had some wonderful engravers. Good luck and good shooting with your new Parker.

Thank you gentlemen for all your help... hopefully these pics will upload for all to see. Again, I am not afraid of criticism. Please let me know if you see a problem or something questionable about this weapon. I am here to learn! It is supposed to be an original 30” GHE. SN dates it to 1909. I just realized I forgot to take pictures of the ejectors but they are there.. Any help or advice is appreciated.

James, I’m glad you figured out how to post pics! That is a nice GHE you have there. It looks like it was well used but not abused. That means it was likely a great shooter and probably has a lot of stories in its memory. That wood though! Beautiful. Be proud of that one and it will treat you well. Take it shooting and give it the gift of some new memories.

Picture #3 clearly shows the ejector stop plate in the doll’s head extension.

And do we see turkeys engraved on the floor plate? Wonderful! I wish my Parker turkey guns had turkeys engraved on them.

You fellows are so very kind! I appreciate the feedback. I am looking forward to what the research letter has to say. I do also look forward to having many memories with this old gun but I sure wish it could tell me some of the stories it has seen over the past 112 years. I can only imagine! I think I understand what the “dolls head extension” is but I am still trying to figure out where the “ejector stop plate” is..lol. Please forgive my ignorance.. And Dean I do believe this is a turkey gun since chokes are 0.040” and 0.048”.. David, the wood is what convinced me to pull the trigger on this one!! Thank you guys for such positive feedback. Wow .048” is about as XF as I have ever heard of in a Parker.

You have now posted a couple of revealing pics of that stop plate. The tiny plate mortised into the rear of the doll’s head rib extension and secured with the tiny screw stops the rearward travel of the ejectors. Turn it over to see the slots that the ejectors travel in.
