Trojan finish problem #2

Before I got my Trojan someone polished the receiver. While I'm doing whatever I end up doing to the wood I'd like to do something to tone down the receiver a bit - something that doesn't require taking the gun apart. I've heard of using lemon juice, ammonia, and myriad other things. Any suggestions? Thanks...

Since it is polished, Birchwood Casey Cold Blue, then tone it down with 0000 steel wool and oil until you get the patina look you desire.

Ha! I just realized I asked this same question back in April . Sorry for the redundancy!
