20's and snowflakes at the Rock

Mike and I shot Parker 20's today along with mutual friend Ross with his Lefever 12 bore. I also did some extra birds with my 16g Model 21 that's been hibernating in the back of the safe for about 3 years now. The Winny is a two-barrel set and her WS-1 and 2 Skeet bored barrel was in place today. Weather was cold and overcast, just a few light flurries but then a squall on the last half of the 100 bird course with lots of big wet snowflakes that made it hard to see/focus on the clays. So much for early Spring. All three of us struggled on some of the last stations but as they say, any day shooting can be good. Hot java and goodies also hit the spot after getting back to the lodge. I just finished drying and cleaning my guns. Here are some random pics of our outing.

Two 20 bore VH guns, Mike's a 28" and mine a 30 incher

Yours truly a little better dressed for the weather

There should be no misses left in Koneski’s VH 20 I think I got them all out of it already :rotf::rotf: Oops wrong gun I dunno about that one .

The only 21 I’ve ever had in my hands that felt good to me was a Pre War 21 16 gauge skeet we had at the shop for a cleaning . That’s one of the few I also tried buying from the customer .

Great post Frank, but when I initially saw your title I thought you guys had been beset by a squad of entitled 20-somethings with 20 gauge gas guns and extended choke tubes!

Yep, my thoughts exactly but you beat me to it Kevin. We struggled with 62* and partly sunny today.

Do you ''Own'' a shop, or just ''Work'' in a shop?

Craig, this 20 VH was procured about 3 years ago from a shop in Aurora, CO. This was actually the first time I shot it. Figured I’d put some rounds through it well before it goes to AZ in January for a quail slam. I need to lower the stock a bit. That’ll be an easy fix. If I told you how much I paid for this gun you’d cry!!

I got one from a dealer in Savannah a couple years ago for a price south of 2.5k . All original except possibly for a period correct pad . Hun was factory singke trigger VHE 26” 20 IC/M . But like many others it’s in parts unknown now :rotf:

As expected from that duo, really nice looking guns. They both know how to buy and know their stuff when it comes to vintage SxS. And good shooters on top of that.

Looking forward to the rock shoot this summer. Really interesting and challenging course but fair targets. Wish it was closer to me than a 5hr drive.
