Took a huge doe last evening!

Had a bunch of deer in the food plot in front of me last night and settled on a big, fat doe. Took it with my Parker crossbow. Does that count for the "Hunting With Parkers" page???? :rotf::rotf::rotf:

congrats Mike, I'm not much of a bowhunter, but like to take a doe early with my crossbow if I can

Thinking more about your post Mike, I know you did alot of timber stand improvement, food plot, and habitat management this year. If any of you have ever tried this it involves alot of "heavy lifting", equipment, and predominantly chain saw work. I have approx 170 acres and although I try, I have not done near enough work on it. I am determined to till up and plant some food plots in my power line ROW which runs for 1/2 mile across the ridge of my property. Deer grow big, here in Ohio. 140 class deer appear on our trail cams all the time. 160 class, yeah, they are there. We had alot of pictures of a 160+ buck for the past few years, but he was finally take on a neighbors property--in front of what appears to be hundreds of pounds of corn--legal here in Ohio.Still getting pictures of nice deer and especially some unique non-typicals.
Your hard work will undoubtably result in a healthier deer population--from Farm to Table, I think is an appropriate statement.

nice looking deer...I get more out of working on food plots and improving the farm and seeing wild game than I do hunting itself any more....charlie

We have 254 acres with two creeks. Shannon Run meanders through our Western boarder and Elkhorn Creek our Northern boarder. We have two herds of cattle and fields dedicated for hay. Several cattle fields have strips we've let become overgrown. Last Christmas I took the grandsons for a drive around the farm after lunch. We counted about 36 deer. They were like mice in the house. An infestation.

My property is close enough to James Madison's home Montpelier that the deer on our property and those on Montpelier would be considered of the same "herd" for lack of a better word . Anyway 15 or so years ago the biologist at Montpelier claimed the deer in said herd were getting smaller from over population . I used to keep up with the total take on about six large chunks of real estate in my area and seems to me the average take in those years was well over 200 deer and a few years I think it approached 300 . That was on less then 8,000 acres . My take on my own 60+ acres has averaged between 12 and 15 a year for over twenty years . I think the guys that are allowed to hut Montpelier averaged over 100 a year for the last twenty .

A bunch of deer harvested in our circle of friends this past week, including a 10 point. We were out of town, but maybe this coming weekend. (Hopefully)

I went Saturday evening and fell asleep for about forty five minutes but saw a couple and didn’t shoot any sticks at them . And as a matter of fact I’m out right now , went up the tree today at 15:45 . And I fell asleep about 16:30 I woke up at 17:05 and three deer were looking right at me I musta been snoring . Anyway they had me and I didn’t even try to get the crossbow in play .
