Nobelsport 209 primers in 10,000 count boxes

9 Attachment(s)
Just recently Nobelsport 209 primers were attractively priced in 10,000 count boxes at about $450. plus sales tax here in PA ..... much less expensive alternate to Cheddites and other 209 primers. Here's some info for those who’ve started using them.

The Nobelsport (NS) 10,000 count box contains (ten) trays of 1000 primers each and of course a 1000 count tray can’t be loaded into a MEC or similar primer feeder that’s designed for the regular 10 x 10 (100) count primer trays we’re all familiar with.

Just to show what can be done, I’m posting a collage of pics showing a small magnetic tool that’s made from a thin sheet of paneling attached to a handle (epoxied) and with a facing of 30 mil magnetic sheet from Amazon that’s also been epoxied to the opposite side of the paneling piece. The face of the tool is sized to exactly cover 10 by 10 (100) primers and it’s used to transfer 100 primers from the 1000 count tray to the empty 100 count trays we’re all familiar with.

In use the tool is slid sideways over the tray of 1000 NS primers, the tool is then lifted along with the 100 primers that are attracted to the magnet, and then it’s placed over an empty 100 count tray that has the same spacing as the Nobelsports. The primers align and fit into the empty holes and then the tool is slid sideways to release the primers. Fiocchi and Remington 100 count trays have the same spacing as the Nobelsports, but Cheddite trays have a wider spacing and won’t work. I've never used Winchester or Federal 209 primers and don't have any 100 count trays to try, thus I don’t know if they would work. Not to worry, some of my friends have used a band saw to cut empty Nobelsport 1000 count trays into pieces that hold 10 x 10 (100) primers.

All of this is a little hard to describe but if you look at the pics it should make sense. The last two pics show a diameter comparison of Nobelsport and Cheddite primers.

Thanks, Frank, that is one slick tool.

When I was at Shyda’s last summer I considered buying a 10,000 box of Noblesports until I saw they were packaged as you stated . Frank a couple folks down here claim they see no difference between the Cheedarcheeserites and the Noblesports as far as performance and fit are concerned , has that been your finding as well ?

I haven't heard anyone reporting good things about these primers. I have heard several complaints of misfires.

I've been using NS primers for about 8 months now and found them equal in performance to the Cheddites. Haven't had one pierced primer yet.

A bit of genius there Frank, thanks for sharing. Where can one find the magnetic sheet stock?

Four of my regular shooting buds have been using the bulk Nobelsports for several months now, that's >12,000 primers loaded and fired and without a single misfire, hang fire or pierced primer reported. That's in a variety of modern and vintage shotguns to include Krieghoffs, Perazzis, Winchester 101's and Model 12's, 870's, Beretta o/u and gas guns, and a Winchester Model 24. Based on the strength of their recommendations I bought a 10,000 count box of Nobelsports myself and have now loaded and fired 800 of them in several Foxes, Parkers and a Model 12 = no problems and to include easy opening of the double-guns. As many know, A H Fox guns can be primer finicky.

Here you go Keavin (on Amazon):

Bandle B Magnetic Sheets for Crafts 8.5" x 11". Pack of 2. Flexible Non Adhesive Magnetic Sheet for Metal Cutting Die Storage. Easy to Organize and Cut for Arts & Crafts or Scrapbooking. Thickness 30 mil. $7.95 and free shipping on Prime.

I made up (4) of these pickup tools and still have one uncut sheet, and will gladly mail a small piece, enough for 1 pickup tool, gratis to the first 4 friends who I know from SxS shooting and will PM their address to me.

Frank,

Thanks for the great pictures and the "How To" repackage those bulk NS primers. Pretty neat. And not surprised with all the detail included as typical Srebro style. :):):)

I was given a 100 pack of the NS to try in my previously Cheddite primed Remington hulls in my Fox. They worked fine.

I heard of another method to repack those 1000 NS primers in empty 10 x 10 = 100 primer trays.

Put an empty primer tray in a plastic bag with the holes up. Throw in several 100 loose NS primers in the bag and shake. Most of the empty holes in the primer tray will be filled with primers. Remaining holes can easily be filled manually.

I haven't tried it so I can't vouch for how well it works. If anyone has tried this, it would be good to get a first hand report.

For what it's worth?

Edgar, I've had Nobel, Fiocchi, Winchester, Federal, CCI and Cheddite primers in bulk for years. I have not had any issues using any of those primers in my reloads. The only time I've had misfires were from factory Fiocchi shells in 28 and a few in .410. Occasionally I'd have a .410 not go bang. I would have some of the 28g not go bang and have a dimpled primer. Drop them in again and they discharge properly. If they were from reloads I'd think maybe I didn't seat them enough and the firing pin strike seated them all the way, but these were factory.

I had several pierced primers with Cheddites years ago when they came on the market. Maybe they've improved but I'll not use them on my guns.
