If you hunt turkeys with a 20 the key is how the gun patterns. You don’t have to shoot magnum shells to kill a turkey. A nice tight choked Parker 20 with a 2.5” or 2.75” shell is ample.

I agree completely Reggie! Head shots with dense patterns of #6 lead is all I ever needed.
TSS may be good for those 70-90 yard shots but I can shoot a deer at 300 yards with my .270 and call it “hunting.”

Oops, I’ll bet I just offended some folks…

The thing about TSS is that its shooting such dense patterns since you shoot smaller shot.A 20ga with #9 shot is deadly at 40 or even 50yds.It also is much more forgiving intuit if you hit low those same #9's will penetrate better than #6 lead.I don't think anyone needs to shoot turkeys at 60 plus yards.Lead will every now and then throw a curve ball and a bird walks or flies away. Not so much with TSS.Still all boils down to the operator.

20 is enough gun. Between both my youth grandsons They have killed 6 toms with my parker , ithaca and fox 20's and i shot one with my fox 20 too. We shoot 1 oz. 6's at 1150 fps. But the longest shot was 35 yds most in side of 25 yds. Bring my grandson soon for the youth hunt in a few weeks. Good luck hunting

One ounce of hand-loaded TSS number 9s in a 20 gauge turns any 2 3/4" gun into a 40 yard gun. The pattern and penetration is incredible. The double wadding and small shot inside it protects the bore.

I sure I am using the same load for my son in his 20ga . Great load with a modified choke, he killed one at 40yards last season with it.

I have killed many with 2.5 and 2.75 shells in 5's with 20's, 16's and 12's. I used 5's in a 2 7/8 10 gauge years ago too. Lead is great

I m sorry fellows but I will stick with my 8 ga and 10 ga and magnum 12 s no pun intended.....if I had a good long barrel 3 inch 20 ga I would try that new 3 inch 1 3/4 ounces of tss on turkeys......charlie

Coincidently, I read today that Iowa will phase in the use of the .410 for turkey hunting next year. I don't know the details, but I can imagine some of the restrictions.
