12ga underlifter

I have a 12ga lifter with laminated steel barrels serial number 4268. I was hoping to get some information on this gun. I am looking at refurbishing this gun to enjoy. Barrels are pitted some but still safe to shoot. I am probably going to send it to Briley to get a 20ga ultralite tube set fitted.

I was hoping to find information on this gun? Original finish, barrel length, grade, etc.?

Also, was considering getting Briley to brown the barrels. Opinions?

Has an S on lug. Don't see any other markings.

Looks to be HR or something close engraved on stock tag/plate.

It should have 30 inch barrels. If you go to the main page www.parkerguns.org and on the left side of it you will find link to areas that will provide you with some valuable Parker knowledge; identifying information as well. In particular, links to Research Letters, Technical Information, Parker Identification and Parker Grades. The FAQ section may hold some notes of interest too.

You may want to search the forum for threads on modifications to Parkers. It's all educational.

Thanks for posting pictures, we all like to see them.

Enjoy your Parker!

Thanks. I acquired this one and another in worse shape recently. Feels like I am going down a rabbit hole that I may never get out of.

I would make sure that Briley will do a correct job on refinishing those barrels for you.

And they would be finished in black and white, not brown. Unless you are tying to replicate original patina and age.

Who is good and reasonable at this type of job? I am not looking for a Julia auction piece just something to enjoy.

Before you worry too much about finish you should concern yourself with bringing it back 'on face.'

And my oh my, but those barrels look thin
