Hello from Connecticut!

I have been an occasional lurker here and a longtime admirer of Parker guns. I have belonged to a few collector organizations over the years, but looking back, maybe I should have joined here and left it at that! Anyway, my recent search for a SxS trap gun led me to a Connecticut dealer who had 2 Parkers a (restored) DHE and an all original VHE. as well as several Model 21's that were out of my price range. The measurements on the two Parkers were the same on paper, but the DHE was the one that fit me near perfectly. It went home with me. I was so very pleased with this gun after patterning and shooting a few clays. I am now looking forward to shooting a few rounds of trap with it this week! I will attach a couple of photos.

Nice one!!
Does it have the screw head in the nose of the forend?

Fore end Screw

I guess I sounded exuberant. I used the seller's photos from GI because they were so good. The seller was Connecicut Shotgun Manufacturing in New Britain, CT, about 45 min. from me.
I have attached my own photo of the fore end screw.
I don't think I will have need to post here often or again.

Thank you. I couldn’t see it in your previous pictures.

Why would you not want to post here in the future? I hope my reply wasn’t rude and off-putting. I like your gun I know you’ll enjoy shooting it.
Please stay around David and keep us informed about this Parker and the others you will most likely be adding to your collection.

David, another couple of questions…

Have you ordered a research letter yet? On legitimate trap guns like yours there is often some pretty interesting and sometimes important provenance.

Also, on looking more closely as your forend there appears to be a longitudinal crack on the left side from the screwhead back for a couple of inches… if it is a crack it should be repaired by a professional. Some can make it disappear entirely. Such cracks or splits usually get worse if not addressed early on.

What a gorgeous stock!

Wonderful gun, late Miller trigger. What's not to like?

David Shanley 03-07-2022 10:26 AM

Thank you Dean. I replied the way I did because I thought you were asking me to prove that I actually had the gun as they were not my photos.
One of the reasons I had joined was to get the research letter. After enlarging the photo the crack is evident. I inspected the fore end, the crack is only readily visible from the exact angle I took the photo. It is not open, and I can't tell if it had been repaired or not. I will give it some time and thought and see how it behaves.

Thanks for your reply David.

The crack can be repaired invisibly now or you can wait until it gets longer or actually splits at which point the repair will be more expensive. Once a crack starts it rarely just stops.

Enjoy that nice trap gun - it's a nice one. I once had a CHE double trap with all the options. That thing was the best Parker I ever owned for trap shooting.
