Avg weight of 20 ga Repros w/28 inch barrels straight stock
Any idea what the average weight of 20 ga Parker Repros, straight stocks with 28 inch barrels?
I just weighted one of mine on my digital bathroom scale and it showed 7 lbs. I've never bothered to calibrate the scale but my gut tells me that unless the difference in weight varies based on the wood, my sense is that the average weight of these should be less. Anyone care to opine? |
Most 20 GA Repros I have seen or owned weighed about 6 3/4 lbs. That said, I have one with St Stk, Spt and 26 Q1/Q2 that weighs 6lbs 3.8oz.

I always thought the 20 gauge Repros were inordinately heavy compared to original 20 gauge guns, all else being the same. I had a 20 ga. straight stock, BTFE, with 28" barrels I considered a bit heavier than I would have liked.

20g guns were cataloged at 6-1/2 lbs. And that is with 28” barrels.

Brian,
all manufacturers catalogs lie |
Well, the question was “average weight”. So I would say that is the best thing to go off for speculation sake. Printed manufacturer specifications.

OK

I'll get my 20 weighed on a calibrated scale. We have one at the shop

The weights of Parker Reproductions are listed as nominal weight in the brochures, not average weight -- that's why 26" and 28" guns can weigh nominally the same. If one can be so lucky to own a 20ga. Repro w/28" bbls. that actually weighs less than 6lbs. 8oz., I'd say he found that needle in the haystack.

Just weighed 2 Parker Repro's as noted below for comparison purposes. Weighed on a certified scale.
1. Parker Repro 20 ga w/28 inch barrels - 6 lbs 12 oz. 2. Parker Repro 20 ga w/26 inch barrels - 6 lbs 9 oz. For further comparison: Parker Trojan 20 ga. w/26 inch barrels - 6 lbs 6 oz |
