I always wanted an A-grade but I ended up passing this one up. I want to know what you guys think of the stock on it. It looks like a c grade stock to me but this is an a grade gun. I also think the barrels may have been cut but am not sure.

I don't know what the asking price was but personally I think you did well to pass it up. The stock looks like it should be re inletted, the barrels look terrible on the outside and I agree the barrels look to have been cut.

I am sure that the stocks on my a grade are original and they do not have checkered side pannels. Also something about the shape of the but stock look a little odd. You dont say what gauge it is But if your collecting instead of shooting you should pass. If you are looking for a shooter and it is cheep enough than it might be worth consideration.

Looks like added checkering to a non original stock.

Thomas Garver 03-06-2013 07:00 PM

I agree with Wayne. I am sitting here looking at my A grade in 12 ga. and there is no checkering on the side panels and the checkering along the pistol grip is also very different in layout as well as checkering. The forearm looks exactly as mine.

The wood to metal fit is horrible:shock:

Harold Lee Pickens 03-06-2013 08:34 PM

Definately does not look like my A grade 16 stock, and barrels are rough but may clean up . what was the asking price?

Eldon Goddard 03-06-2013 09:50 PM

The gun is a 12 gauge with 30'' barrels and ejectors. Forgot to mention. The asking price is $1500.

wayne goerres 03-06-2013 10:16 PM

I payed 400.00 for mine a month ago. It is a 20ga. Plastic But plate is broken and barrels hace been cut otherwise its in dam good shape. I think you did the right thing walking away from a 12ga at that price.

Eldon Goddard 03-06-2013 10:36 PM

Let me know if you find another 20 gauge A grade for 400, I think I can manage to put together some funds for that.

Eldon,

IMHO you made the right move. 30", A's were a fairly common configuration and that one looks like it was "rode hard and put away wet". Be patient, still plenty of good ones out there.----TOOL

I bought the 20ga from a pawn shop where I no the owner. These buys do not pop up every day. Another one may be a long time in comming.

By the way...is it just me or are Fox prices getting way out of hand ? especialy for the graded ones. i am seeing some realy high prices even for the Sterlingworths. they are no where near the book estimates. ...but then again...are any selling for those prices ?
seems i have seen alot of the same guns listed on all the site for the last 8-10 months.
at least with Parkers you get a reasonable valuation with whitch to make your decisions.
