28 Gauges
All-
The theme for this years Southern SXS event display will be Parker 28 gauge guns. Please let me or David Suponski know if you have one you would like to display. We will have at least 3 tables to fill up and we will look forward to a full and fun display. To all of the PGCA Members- Thank you for your continued support of the PGCA! |
Josh;
I have 2 that I would like to display. |
I have one very interesting 28 gauge DHE, a run-of-the-mill VHE, and a couple of Repros. Which ones would be appropriate for the display?
Josh,
I have one VHE skeet that I will bring. |
Dean, on your way down would you drop off one of those 'run of the mill' VHE's. I don't want them to be a bother to you. My safe can accomodate them easily enough and I know they's be happy to sit alongside my very run of the mill VH. lol

Dean I think your repo 28's are out but that little 24 inch gun would merit display.

I'm bringing one to shoot not display:nono: |
I'll bring my 28 ga DHE damascus
I was thinking about bringing the neat little 28 gauge vent rib gun that I displayed in the PGCA 28 gauge display at Ohio Gun Collectors. Unfortunately, it is locked up in case number 71 at the National Firearms Museum. You can see it on the museum website. Maybe I'll bring my little blued frame, restocked VH. It's the seventh 28 made by Parker Brothers and once killed a Montgomery County, Maryland cock bobwhite at 50 yards with a second barrel in front of witnesses.
Keep 'em coming!

Bill why do you have your guns locked in a case at the national Firearms Museum? A DHE vent rib 28:shock: Now that would be something to see!
I'm bringing the new AAHE (or whatever it is) to shoot but as an upgrade I doubt it merits display. |
The vent rib DHE was in a PGCA 28 gauge display in Wilmington, Ohio a few years ago.. Your new AAHE is well qualified. I thought it was an A-1 Special.
AAHE or A1 Special I'm not sure what to call it but I'll bring it along maybe another that has been recased and restocked but a nice 28" straight grip.

Only problem Rich, is if it's on display you can't shoot it...........
Watch me. I'll leave a card that says it's on display at the Sporting Clays range at Drakes Landing:rotf::rotf:
You are quick on the draw Rich. No wonder double triggers are no problem for you.:rotf: Good one! Mine will be right there with yours doing what they were made for.
I have a suggestion for next year's theme.
How about Parker 12 gauges? Then I could contribute:rolleyes: |
Shame on you Chuck:nono: That would take away your excuse for buying a small bore. I can see you in a nice DHE 16 0 frame with 28 inch bbls, straight grip and ssplinter forarm:bowdown:
we could call it the working man's collection
Rich, I seem to recall shooting a very nice 20ga last year that a certain person had just bought. I think I ran the last station with it. He wasn't interested in selling it to me:banghead:
If everyone thinks the 12ga theme is too broad, we could narrow it down to just 12ga VH's, narrow it down even further with 12ga VHE's, then 12ga VHE's with 30" barrels, and on and on and on:eek: Maybe someone would be kind to me and let me try one of those sissy 28ga guns at the Southern. I'm not fussy, any 28ga AHE or above will suffice:rolleyes: |
That particular 20 went towards the new 28 BUT you can shoot Gunner's PArker which is a very nice 20 or the new 28 but sooner or later you WILL have to buy your own:rotf:
Chuck;
If you would lower your standards a bit you are welcome to shoot one of my V grades. |
Daryl, I think I could lower my standards just a little. Thanks to both for the offers.
When it comes to 28-gauges there aint nothing cooler than the gun on page 318 of The Parker Story.
Dave, I almost agree with you but 150677 is ultra-special to me. It is a combination two-gauge-set, in both 20 & 28 gauge. The serialization book only lists the 28" 28 gauge barrels. It will be one of two featured Parkers in an article I'm preparing for future publication.
Our friend Morris Baker of RST gave me a call today and he will be bringing a couple of very special 28 gauge Parkers for display at the Southern.
Dave, our friend Morris called me too. I think he is fooling with us.
I didn't think Morris sold anything, just let you look while he pondered an asking price.
Bill, I don't think he's kidding us at all. I saw one of em at the Vintagers this year...
I trust Morris is doing well these days - we see so little of him except at the big events, it's nice to know he called you Dave.

I tried to talk Morris into coming to our West Virginia Panhandle shoot. I doubt the RST truck will be there, but maybe Morris will make it.
Thats a new venue so maybe he hasn't got the time allocated for it this year. I'm looking forward to going. It's nice to see someone try something new.
Can someone post the details on the West Virginia Panhandle shoot? Where, when or a link would help.
Chuck Brunner at Greene's Guns is a promoter. Try calling him. I can't locate any website information although I know they have one for the shoot.
It's in May about two weeks after the Southern. The club is called Prospect Hall and it's a nice place, I've shot there befor. Like Bill said there is a website but I don't have it handy either but Chuck will fill you in. Are you coming to the Southern?
