Getting rid of the "Shack Nasties"
5 Attachment(s)
What's a better way to get rid of the Shack Nasties then to get together with a bunch of PGCA members from CT and Mass at Addieville East Farm and break some clays.Weather was mid 40's with increasing wind. I doesn't get much better for January in New England. My thanks to George Purtill for putting this together and for the wonderful steak lunch....
1) Station 1 2)1884 hammergun keeping a AA grade company 3)Larry on the left with George shooting 4)Dean, George,Jamie,Larry and Allen Newell 5)This cart is just a disaster. I don't know why this always seems to happen to Larry's cart. Maybe it's because I didn't bring mine.... |
Looks like you boys had a great time.
Thanks for sharing the pics. |
We had a great show and tell session. We had better iron outside Robin Hollow than they had inside.
Many thanks to Allen for that wonderful liquid sunshine and brownies. And potato salad. And to Mrs. Eggar for the carrot cake. |
The brunt of Ol Man Winter is headed your way O.P. I shot in a 30mph wind and the mercury was 15 degrees.
|
I am so glad I thought to put air in the tires before we went today. Three or four guns and about six hundred rounds of ammo can really be a load. It was a really fun day and great to finally meet and shoot with Allan Newell.

A few more pictures of the day.
1. Larry Frey pretending he is Rich Anderson. 2. Allen Newell smashing a wind-tossed outgoer. 3. Larry Frey still working on his Anderson impression. 4. George Purtill, Edgar Spencer, and Jamie (my brother-in-law). 5. Larry, Jamie, Dave's backside, Allen Newell enjoying New York Strip Sirloins at their finest. |

Oh yeah, and "Cookie" Purtill who was our grillmaster.
That's Robin Hollow Outfitters in the background and boy did we see some Parker eye candy in there today!! Like a 28 ga. CHE straight grip in very high condition among others. . |
Dean for a minute there I thought that was Anderson....:rotf:
|
Hey Gents,
That loose forearm on my VH bothered me yesterday. Should I ship it back to Lawrence for repair or would you suggest someone closer to home who could tighten this up. I don't want to mess with it. |
Thanks for the report OP. That's what the PGCA is all about. I wish I could have been there but next time how about no pictures of your backside and some shots of that CHE 28 straight grip.:rotf: Looks like Larry is now officially a reloader. You just can't help diving into a bin of empty hulls... like a moth drawn to a flame. Welcome to the club Mr. Frey. Mr. Anderson will present you with your membership pin and t-shirt the next time he sees you.:)
|
Larry couldn't emulate a better person.:biglaugh:

At this point because DelGrego did the original work on the gun I would bring it back and ask them to tighten it up and time the floor plate screws. |

The progressive press makes it a lot easier to reload in volume. I had Mec make me a 9000 for 2.5 inch 16's and will get another for the 2.5 inch 20. I think I have a pretty good supply of hulls except for 28's so there all your Larry:)
|
It took us forever to shoot the course yesterday because at every station we had to wait while Frey scoured the ground on hands and knees in the snow looking for Remington hulls.
We were so embarrassed. Some of us took off our PGCA pins and wore our dark lenses. |

You have to get the hulls someway...just wait untill he figures out the 2.5 inch low pressure loads are the way to go I can see fistacuffs at Haussmans:rotf:
|
What's this??? While remnants of Team Fox, sip their Krupptinis (shaken, not stirred) poolside at The Bellagio, Spring training is underway??
Eight months to go and the Nutmeggers are already burning powder!! Practice, practice, practice boyyyyz.....it might get you on the BOLT bus to Carnegie Hall............though I wouldn't bet on it. Warmest regards------Ansley H. |
George, I have all those 16 ga hulls you wanted and will hold them till we meet again. Gents, it was a good day shooting and eating. (did I say sheating?)
|
Which one of you guys left the box full of empty hulls, including some small bore paper hulls in the back of my truck?
|
Thanks for the 'after the shoot' "Blackout" Allen :fg:
|
The 'Blackout' was compliments of B.F. Clyde's apple cider still in Stonington, C.T. Drink too much of that stuff and you will blackout!

Dave- how bad was I? |
Pretty bad George.

I left it Larry, for anyone who might have had a use for them. |

As I recall Larry shot 68% while George only shot a 67%.

For the next big shoot I suggest George send me a plane ticket so that there will be someone who shoots WWAAYY worse than he and the pressure will be off.....!

I might as well have been shooting a Fox. |
OK- this is the sad results of the shooting. We were so bad they didn't even consider us real clays shooters- we were HUNTERS!!!
http://www.addieville.com/shootresul...rDivision.html Heck- I still feel better than the Patriot's fans. |
George, Those are 2012 results

I didn't shoot in 2012. In fact the first time I went was for the Vintage cup. |
It looks like Edgar and I are in a class by ourselves. I guess size really matters (12 vs 16 that is)
|
George, I only see three names when I open the link. Am I missing something here?
|
Sounds like you both need lessons....or shoot Mossbergs:eek:
|
I would have done better with my Beretta
|
I could have done better with my 7 inch Collins tobacco hoe.
