Packing For Kansas
What is the weather like in southwest Kansas in early December? Last january it was in the 60's most of the time. I am bringing my 12ga DH, 16ga VHE and my 20ga repro. I am also bringing my 17hmr for the rodents and my 45 for the great hand gun shoot off. Sleeping bag, 2 bottles of the famous Grouse, Venison sausage and Pinconning extra sharp cheese. What have I forgot?
Bolyard |
Bill ; You forgot to send my invitation !!!!!!!!!!:rotf: :bigbye:

Have not had a wife in 23 years, a few girlfriends but no wife. Besides, the girls have not approved that I get tied down to the point that it would interfere with our hunting. Bolyard |
My hat's off to ya Bill.

You might need this map Bill :crying: :rotf:

We leave in the morning...from ohio at the P.A. line
Hi Bill...I will be in Hill City KS by saturday be the lord willing. We leave by Pick Up truck in the wee ours tomarrow...five of us are going...ooops three of us and two GSP that think they are peaple. I spoke to a friend who does crop dusting out of Atwood and he told me the weather has been wet to get the crops off but they may start this weekend as it has been dry now. The 10-day forcast is for mostly sunny mid 20-s for low and mid 40-s for hi temps. Im takeing a parker repro 16 and a 1929 GHE 16 and 5# fiochi H.V. This combo is a death ray on roosters! We also will get into some Quail and I have some 7.5HV for them. Did not see any chickens last year but maybe this year.
Are you going to be in the Hill City area ? if so we could do a hunt or two. |
Wow....sounds like you guys are going to have a blast(or your parkers will if you guys don't indulge too much...lol) I may have to get out my 'magic wand' and become a red shouldered for a few days.......smiles.
(Mr. Dunkl...errr.....John....this may be a perfect oppurtunity.......mini video camera in one of your hunting pins....then pick of the 'litter' of these guys parkers....smiles....) |
Kenny,
Good luck on your hunt. I am not making my pilgrimage until late next week. I am going to be in southwest corner of the state. I looked at the bird forecast, and it appears that is one of the few areas where the bird numbers are not up. Bill |

John, we don't shoot female quail.
Look what happened to Bolyard last Jan when we found that he had made such a terrible faux pas. |

The reason Bruce doesn't shoot female quail is he cant hit them or the males!:rotf: |
Hey Dunkle,
Do you have one of those little Smileys that is a open mouth insert foot? That would be mighty handy lately. Bolyard |

Look what we found Bolyard carrying around in his mouth. Maybe the dog brought it to him?

As Mark Twain Once Said, "If I cannot smoke Cigars in heaven, Then I shall not go!" The dogs also bring me a rock glass with ice for the Famous Grouse, are you going to try it this year, or are you sticking with your Harvey wallbanger's?:rotf::rotf: Bolyard |
Excerpt from Harper's New Monthly Magazine Volume 0040 Issue 237 (February 1870) page 436
Title The Game Water-fowl of America "After a season of sighs and groans I turned to my comrade, who lay in the bottom of the boat, whining at a piteous rate. The poor fellow had put both of his loads into one barrel, probably on account of "nips" he had indulged in previous to our departure from Havre de Grace. The heavily loaded instrument recoiling had nearly dislocated Charley's shoulder-joint, and whirling upward, dealt me a stunning blow." Did they have famous Grouse in 1870? :rotf: |
Lee, I don't touch the stuff but if my friend Bill Bolyard ever gets a decent Parker waterfowl gun, I'll hide the Famous Grouse from him. He'll be on his way here in a couple days.

I am in possession of a number 2 frame DHE with 32" tubes chocked IM & F, this should fit the bill. I have been told on good authority that The Grouse is used by most duck hunters in the blind for medicinal purposes. Bolyard |
(pssst...Mr Day....find a good hiding place.....)
|
That Famous Grouse works well in the squirrel woods, and any other place that might have snakes or sassy women.
Hail FG Rog |
hmmmm......and I was TRYING to behave......good thing its tuesday through monday:)

John, What posts?
Lee, Roger Giles acts tough here, but there is a Mrs. She Who Must Be Obeyed Giles who keeps him in line and she would not appreciate being characterized in the same sentence as a snake. |

Lee could also tell you what post - but, I think she already did... ;) JD |
Bruce have you never had a sassy wife or girl friend and if not you have not sniffed around very much with the fair sex.
Wife knows by know that anything I think of will be heard or seen in print somewhere and takes said remarks with a grain, oops a dram of Famous Grouse. Roger |
Bill, you better pack your warm north long johns, we have a canadian cold from coming in
Wednesday, suppose to get pretty chilly. |
John: you better invent an emoticon depicting Famous Grouse.... I think it would get a lot of use....
