DH, One of the last hammer guns and probably the last steel barreled hammer gun to come to light. Gary

George M. Purtill 11-16-2012 08:21 AM

Nice towel. Oh yeah, the gun is pretty nice as well.

Larry Frey 11-16-2012 08:55 AM

Thats a great gun Gary. I am amazed at how thin that slot is on the right hammer screw.

Chuck Bishop 11-16-2012 09:39 AM

Holy Cow, that's a nice one!

charlie cleveland 11-16-2012 11:20 AM

Bill, The gun is back in the safe, it's number is either 156xxx or 159xxx I have a letter with it and will look it up Tomorrow and let you know. Gary

Dean Romig 11-16-2012 09:25 PM

Very nice Gary... Wow, what a gun! Where the heck do you find these things... I never seem to get lucky like you other guys.

Jeeez... will you look at that cute little squiggle on the barrel bead where it meets the bead on the frame... such a nice touch!

Daryl Corona 11-16-2012 10:31 PM

Oh my. To die for! Thanks Gary. Sure glad you learned how to post pics.

calvin humburg 11-18-2012 07:14 AM

You forgot the bottom engraving. What do you call the bottom of a hammer gun "the floor" there's no plate. Should of put it under hammer guns. I hardly ever look at this heading, I bet i'm not alone.
Thanks Gary That is 1 nice HG!

Rich Anderson 11-18-2012 12:02 PM

A very nice gun but it would look much nicer net to a yellow towel:rotf:
Gary I'm glad you have figured out the picture business. Nice guns are always a pleasure to look at, thanks.

Here's a photo of the floor plate of the DH titanic gun, also a strange thing that I have noticed and commented about on this forum, notice the ground out area in the right hammer, even with a fishtail lever with the hammer cocked it will not open, also my BH steel barrel gun is the same way! any body notice this on guns they have? Gary it's a good day for photo's!

Bill Murphy 11-19-2012 06:30 PM

That's pretty neat. I've never looked for a cut in the hammer. I guess I'll have to dig out some hammer guns.

Dean Romig 11-19-2012 07:29 PM

I've seen it only once before.

Destry L. Hoffard 11-20-2012 01:36 PM

Gary is a guy who really knows where his towel is.

DLH

Gary Carmichael Sr 11-20-2012 08:35 PM

Destry when the local cat house closed the madam gave me several red towels, she said every time I dried off with it think of her! I will say no more

Gary, I have #172,662, the "last hammer gun" except for four ten gauge parts cleanup guns, and three more parts cleanup guns that were sent to Yokohama, Japan in tin lined boxes. These last guns are a mix of Damascus, Bernard, and Twist barrels and sold for $30 each. My G 16 is a nice little 27" 16 gauge that is a long time project getting barrels fitted. If not the last hammer gun out of Parker Brothers, it is the last graded gun and the last smallbore. I have seen the order for the last three guns in the 179,000 range, but I have not seen the order for the four ten gauges, only the Serialization Book entry in the 174,000 range, 174,055-6-7-8. Maybe our researcher could shed some light on those orders.
