Parker BHE Stock Refinishing
I was on here a while ago asking about my Parker single and double barrel guns. Well, I sold the single, and now I'm looking for a good refinisher for the wood on the double.
Just as an FYI, I had found a gunsmith to do that - near my home in Pittsburgh. His name was Gary Stiles, if anyone might have known him. He had the gun for several months, but his daughter called me a few weeks ago and explained that he had died. I picked up the gun, and now I'm looking for another craftsman to do the work. I was hoping that someone on here might have a recommendation - preferably in the northeast, if possible. I'd appreciate any leads that I can get for the work. |
I will send you a pm on this.

Sir:
A Parker B grade stock is nothing to put at risk. Please make sure your choice of finisher is outstanding. And... that the wood is returned to its proper factory colour. Otherwise, your gun may be devalued. Best, Kensal |
Charlie Yellott, in North Hudson NY did a great job on my BHE

I had Dennis Smith aka "The Stock Doctor restock my BHE. He did a truly outstanding job! I would highly recommend him. His phone number is (541) 483-2182

Post a few photos of your gun Buddy.

Dennis is my "go to" wood guy. I and several other long time members have used Dennis with complete satisfaction as Buddy has stated. A B grade gun needs to be put in the hands of an artisan.

i make my own oil finish, usually 15 -20 coats does the job, to get the look i desire
i believe in making them "look as they should for their age" not brand new, ive refreshed finishes on dozens of vintage sxs guns, muzzleloaders as well, a great passtime for he winter im located in nova scotia canada, wished i lived closer to some of the people on the site here, seems to be alot of intrest in the old sxs guns, no matter if its a low grade or a high grade, theres just something about staring down the barrels of a sxs gun! |
S/S's
You're right Rodney. And especially if they have hammers. Cheers, Tom

not that i want to be the one facing a sxs, lol, but looking down to that bead, conjures up "the old days" the old western frontier, when these guns were involved in puting game on the table, to being involved in a card game in a saloon, lol, i am still wanting a few guns in my collection, i had a nice little parker ph on a 1.5 frame with twist barrels , 2.5" chambered, only thing was someone sanded butt down alot and added a pachmyr pad, poorly, i ended up trading it for a beretta black powder over under 12 and a jackie brown carolina fowler flinter in 20 gauge, of which those are gone, lol, i have the lefever hopefully arriving tomorrow, i want another parker before im dead, lol, an lc smith, and a nice fox, wonder if santa is listening?? i doubt it, im happy with what i have to shoot, ill wait till gunshow in springtime, always something there, OH, anyone familiar with belgian made sxs hammerguns in 410? laminated barrels 2.5" chambers, believe gun was built buy "liege united arms",, local gun guy/trader has it, very small framed external hammer, 30" barrels? locks are back action style, one barrel marked choke, other not, typical black powder belgian proofs, elg , gun is tight bores spotless, he asks 350$ for it? any thoughts
