Just for fun your opinion.

Here is a few pics of the best I have found in Georgia so far as not very many to look at here. This one I think is totally honest. If you think different please say so. Here is what I see. Bores are very good. No cracks in wood. Finish looks original with very light handling marks about 98 %. Checkering is very good. Blue looks original on the tubes about 97 %. No dents. One very small spot of pitting from blood I think, very shallow about the size of this letter O. Receiver is very smooth with some cc about 15 % and brown spots and no pitting. Any ideas short of buffing? Lever is center. No looseness at all. Barrels ring very well. Receiver screws not timed and not in the right holes can fix when I get the right driver.NOT FOR SALE. NOT FISHING. NO FIGHTING PLEASE Did I pay to much $1000. Again just for fun and have a good day. Gerald.

Serial #

143475 Frame size 1 1/2. Choke skeet and mod. 28 inch tubes. Barrels not cut. 12 Ga. VH. Did I miss anything else?

Chuck Bishop 11-06-2012 11:41 AM

You didn't list the gauge but I assume it's a 12ga VH. Assuming the barrels haven't been cut and the chokes are original, I'd say you got a real nice gun at a great price.

Take some bronze wool for a Frontier pad and with some oil, lightly rub and see if the brown comes off.

I am envious. I think you did great.

Fighting? Who do you take us for?
Nice looking gun.

Mark Landskov 11-06-2012 04:22 PM

Pat yourself on the back! You scored. Like Chuck said, BRONZE wool and oil will get the accumulated crud off. You will be surprised at what's underneath.

You made a very good buy.

It is a nice looking gun and an excellent first Parker. Congratulations.

As you noted, there is not much case color coverage left on the action frame. I suspect that is carry wear because the gun looks mechanically very sound. Note the broaching or radial file marks on the barrel breech ends. Those are factory finishing marks and wear off as the gun is used and opened and closed. Yours remain distinct. This gun has been cared for and not used until worn out.

Enjoy.

We may see more in the Northeast than you see in Georgia, but we don't see many as nice as that.

Bill Murphy 11-06-2012 05:35 PM

Yup, the broaching or chasing on the breech of the barrels is seldom seen on field used Parkers. I don't think all Parkers had it when new.

Gerald McPherson 11-06-2012 05:48 PM

I noticed that also. There is more than what shows in the pic. Bruce I wondered who would be the first to see that. I take that as a good sign of little use. Some things the camera will show up and some things it doesn't. It was cloudy today and so I thought light might be good for pics and I wanted to see how many I could post. I have another one I think I will post some pics of also. We all like to look don't we? I will post as many as I have. Thanks Fellows. Gerald.

Here's a few pics of an old VH 12 ga that I have used for many years can't say how many. This gun has been used heavily as we can tell by the wear on the forearm. However it remains very solid. The bores are also very good and ring true. They are 26 inches uncut, mod and full. Blue about 50% with no pits or dents. Notice the forearm wood has drawn up a little as it does not meet the metal and the checkering is about gone. Wood finish is about 50% but I like it like it is rather than adding finish. Personally I like original better than restored seems more honest. It also is a 1 and 1/2 frame. the barrel weight is 3 8 and the other one is 4 but they weigh the same, strange huh? This is my favorite gun of all my 68 years.I sure hope I don't have to pay up for all the birds I have shot. What do you think? Have a great evening. Gerald.
P.S. The receiver was also brown when I first obtained it. It has worn off mostly just from use and cleaning.

You made a great buy. What a good honest Parker that will provide generations of future use. You can't buy any "new" gun of this quality for $1000.00. Congratulations.
