I was wondering what kind of info you guys could give me on this gun? I don't have pics yet if the gun but I do have the serial number and a couple pics of the barrel flats and the watertable, it's a Parker 10ga with either 30 or 32 inch plain twist barrels, hammer gun, straight stock, it's got engraving, here's a couple pics

A PT (Plain Twist) Lifter of that age is likely to be a low "Dollar Grade" Parker - probably the equivalent of a Grade 0 or a Grade 1

Please show us more pictures of the engraving... left side, right side and bottom of the frame.

That's a funny looking 1 on the serial number, looks like a t upside down, maybe the stamp was broken? Does it have a steel buttplate? Gary

It's an O grade or PT. Just like my 1881. Thats a common roll stamped engraving. Correct me if I am wrong. A fun gun to shoot if the barrels are good. opps Rick said it was a O

Yours is almost a twin to my 1882 Grade 0. It's a great shooter. I'm begining to like my 10s better than my 12s.
|
Yes, that was made when Parker was experimenting with roll stamped engraving. I have the "same" gun in 12 gauge on a 1 frame. Considering the technology of the time, the roll stamping is very good. I am surprised that Parker did not continue to use it on their low grades.

This O grade actually does have features like border engraving and checkering. O grades made earier than this would have been very plain with none of these mentioned attributes.

This is a very stout gun. Someone has scoured the surface, most unfortunate, as it de values the gun. It does not devalue the gun as a shooter and the gun might prove a fine field gun. I shoot my old hammer 10 ga and I am pleased with the results. David
