gun room

I was taking pictures of some guns I have and the wife told me to take one of the room. You can get the general layout. I ran out of room a long time ago and that why the rack on the ceiling. The room is called the "armory" no safes but a very complacated alarm system. Frank

Here is some other pics. It is a little packed with guns. Thanks Frank

Dean Romig 10-16-2012 05:35 AM

Very nice Frank.

Rick Losey 10-16-2012 07:02 AM

ceiling racks??

great idea - thanks for the pics

Larry Frey 10-16-2012 07:25 AM

What a great gun room Frank. Did you build or purchase the oak gun cabinets? I really like the idea of the ceiling racks and I see your Parker vs. LC Smith cap has a place of prominence.

Paul Plager 10-16-2012 09:32 AM

Very nice Frank. Can we see a pic. of the celing rack? That is a great idea.
I'm planning a new gun cabinet now, I even have Parker drawer pulls to use on it.:)

Mills Morrison 10-16-2012 09:42 AM

That is cool. One of my earliest gun memories is my great uncle's gun room at his plantation on the Edisto River in South Carolina. Guns all the way around, but not on the ceiling. I will remember that idea

FRANK HALSEY 10-16-2012 11:52 AM

I will try to take pics of the ceiling gun racks to night. As for the Parker vs Lc Smith hats, I have the pleasure of two out of four that I have been in. We won both. I have missed a few because of med problems but I try to get there as much as my body let me. I am trying to make it to the fall one in two weeks. Thanks, Frank

Destry L. Hoffard 10-16-2012 04:48 PM

Nice! Very cool gun room.

DLH

John Truitt 10-16-2012 08:16 PM

So cool. Great gun room. WOW!!!!!
I hope to see you in a week or so at the Fall Southern Mr Halsey.

Thanks for sharing.

Angel Cruz 10-16-2012 09:13 PM

Outstanding!!!

FRANK HALSEY 10-16-2012 11:56 PM

Thank you all. I am about to take the pics of the ceiling racks. I just made them up in my reloading room because I was out of space. All the gun cases you see are also full but I don't have room to display the guns in them. Thanks again, Frank

Here are the ceiling racks. They are very easy to make and hold alot of weight. Frank

P.S. Glad to heard from you Destry. I miss you at the sxs event. Hope you can make to one soon.:bigbye:

George M. Purtill 10-17-2012 07:04 AM

What a wonderful place to hang out with a cup of coffee or a cigar or a glass of your favorite stuff....
I could use a place like that to sit and write articles for PP.
Simply outstanding.

John Dallas 10-17-2012 09:39 AM

I drilled some holes in the joists of my gun room (er...basement) and set some dowels in them. I store extra barrels on them.

Dean Romig 10-17-2012 11:24 AM

Neat idea.

I would need to pay close attention to the strength of the wood and the direction of the grain. I've had one bad experience with a failed wooden rack that I would never like to repeat.

Dave Suponski 10-17-2012 12:16 PM

You had the bad experience.... I still cringe everytime I put a gun in that darn rack.....

Dean Romig 10-17-2012 01:54 PM

That's exactly the experience I was referring to... I was simply leaving out any names DAVE to avoid embarrassment to negligent parties heretofore not identified.

Dave Suponski 10-17-2012 02:09 PM

Negligent..? Are you serious... Maybe we should just put the guns in a corner rather than use that rack you built when you were 6 years old or whatever. I still want to use it for kindling....:)

Dean Romig 10-17-2012 03:06 PM

.....I'm crushed....:(

Rich Anderson 10-17-2012 05:37 PM

Dave make sure you start the fire, Grampy might not be allowed to play with matches:rotf::rotf:

the celing racks are a great idea Frank thanks for sharing.

Paul Plager 10-19-2012 10:59 AM

Very nice Frank, thanks for the pics of celing racks. There is a gun shop close to me here in Texas that has a set of 2 gun deep horizontal racks displaying their wares. Maybe you could think about that for your racks on the walls.

FRANK HALSEY 10-19-2012 01:50 PM

I have a guy that works for me that over the winter, we are redoing the room with that very idea. We have all the measurements and I can fit all my guns in the displays on two walls that way. It is just getting time to do it is the tough part. Thanks, Frank

Harry Collins 10-20-2012 10:05 AM

Frank,

Papa told me that anyone that does not have 30 guns is underprivileged! Glad to see you don't fall into that catagory.

Harry

Destry L. Hoffard 10-20-2012 02:49 PM

Collins,

I hate to hear that cause I've only got 27 right at the moment. Well I was looking for an excuse.....

Suh-weet.

charlie cleveland 10-22-2012 07:41 PM

if your papa meant all parkers im in trouble but if meant stevens and such like im ok... charlie

Richard Flanders 10-22-2012 11:27 PM

Only 30 guns to make the grade??? No worries on that account in my humble abode I think..... My friend with an FFL who receives the guns I purchase has a couple of guys who buy a gun or two per month and have in his estimation at least 300 guns in their houses.... phew....

Mills Morrison 10-23-2012 09:41 AM

Michael McIntosh had about 10 when he died, so I guess there is no shame in owning fewer.

Bill Murphy 10-23-2012 09:50 AM

I have always coveted M.M.'s days afield, but never his guns. As far as guns are concerned, I envy C.H. or R.P.

Rick Losey 10-23-2012 09:56 AM

agreed - its not a numbers game, but its a heck of a lot of fun to come up with a nice find. (not unlike my too many prints) I walked away from a 28 bore double back action muzzleloader this weekend, Just decided -although it was a very unusual piece, don't think I have seen one before - I wouldn't use it much, and it had been aggressively cleaned.

I of course kept the guy's card in case. My lovely wife even asked the next morning if I wanted to go back for it.

Still thinking hard about a little 20 Fox I know of though. Its been restocked, but I can always use another rainy day bird gun

not being a number game work both ways

Mills Morrison 10-23-2012 10:21 AM

It is great to have a wife that supports your shooting. Mine loves it as much or more than I do.

John Dallas 10-23-2012 03:44 PM

My bride and I have come to a truce - she doesn't ask how much I spend on guns and fly rods, I don't ask how much the new dress, necklace or hairdo cost. Somnehow it's worked for 44 years

Bill Murphy 10-23-2012 07:44 PM

The Lovely Linda and I do not have a truce and it is up to me to take care of the "situation". I do have the property under control, but the house, the guns, the cars, and the motorcyles are another thing altogether. Please wish me luck.

charlie cleveland 10-23-2012 08:45 PM

good luck bill.. charlie

GUN ROOM

Well was in the gun room or man cave what ever you want to call it, and decided to take a photo did not cop me out well but you can get an idea, sort of looks like a hoarders room don't it? gary

Dave Suponski 12-08-2012 05:29 PM

Thanks Gary, I often wondered where all those hammerguns slept.

Dean Romig 12-08-2012 05:59 PM

"Hammerguns Under Glass"

Dave Noreen 12-08-2012 07:40 PM

I used a bit more "basic" ceiling rack in my gun closet in our old condo in Alexandria --

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ne/Closet2.jpg

Kept those NID Ithacas up there!!

Bill Murphy 12-08-2012 09:24 PM

Gary, I especially like the three guns in the rack with the red background. Dave, nice condo.
