Steve Barnett suffers a heart attack

Please say a prayer for Steve Barnett -- he suffered a heart attack sunday while preparing to go to a show--he was scheduled to have double bypass surgery tomorrow and was resting comfortably when he had a second attack late this afternoon -- they have rushed him into surgery and are performing the bypass as I write -- He is a friend to all on this site and heck of a good guy --Please provide the power of prayer

I wish the best for my friend Steve Barnett. I hope we all beat the clock that we are all watching.

Daryl Corona 09-11-2012 08:42 PM

I don't wear a wristwatch any more for that reason. May God look out for him and let modern medicine do the rest.

chuck brunner 09-11-2012 08:42 PM

I agree Murph

Dave Suponski 09-11-2012 08:50 PM

Chuck, Thanks for letting us all know. Steve will be in my thoughts and prayers. Well said Bill.

Good thoughts and prayers out to Steve....very sorry to read this news.

Tom

Dean Romig 09-11-2012 09:47 PM

I have faith that Steve will be OK after the surgery. But I'm praying for his recovery anyhow. They say if you get through one heart attack your chances are significantly improved for a full recovery. Good Luck Steve!

charlie cleveland 09-11-2012 09:53 PM

Steve is a great guy. He is fair and honest in his business and a person I call a friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and especially for him.

chuck brunner 09-12-2012 09:39 AM

Rich I agree -- he is my mentor and has always been a great friend -- I have never had a deal he did not honor. Hes as generous of his time as he is with his money. Please keep Joanne in your prayers as well, she is a strong woman but still needs your prayers and support. Give her or steve a call or text to let them know your thinking of them. Gods speed brother!

Eric Eis 09-12-2012 09:42 AM

Steve is one of those few that you could trust hands down... My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. He's one of the good guys. God Bless. Eric

Peter Clark 09-12-2012 10:51 AM

I have purchased a couple of guns from him and found him to be a true gentleman, always having time to talk to you. Also very fair. I too hope and pray for his full recovery.

Kevin McCormack 09-12-2012 10:54 AM

What I love about the guy is that usually the first words out of his mouth whenever I approach him to negotiate a price or trade on a gun deal are; "Kevin, what do YOU want to do?" In all my years of dealing with him, wonderful guns and never a bad memory.

Michael Murphy 09-12-2012 10:21 PM

Hang in there Steve.

Eric Eis 09-13-2012 10:05 AM

Has anyone heard anything ? Family still in my prayers... Hang in there Steve....Eric

good / bad news --

The old boy is up and moving -- Joanne says he is doing everything the doctor asks of him -- he has been walking, gabbing and hanging out in his room. She says he is slated to go home on mon-tuesday and will be back in form shortly -- Bad news -- if you bummed hard "liker" , smokes or fried chicken , find another source, he is going to be the poster child for "The New Dealer"

Best
Chuck :rotf:

Michael Murphy 09-13-2012 10:31 AM

Goodness! He'll lose so much weight that he'll have to buy a whole new wardrobe of tropical shirts. Might be a good idea to buy Tommy Bahama stock.

Happy to hear that he's on the mend.

Tom Wyraz 09-13-2012 10:49 AM

Thanks for the update Chuck......super news.

That's great news.... But he ain't going to lose some weight....trust me on this I quit smoking 2 years ago (best thing I did) but I 've got 20 pounds to lose due to it:cuss: And I know quiting smoking for Steve is going to be hard but he will do it.... Steve if you are watching this thread, listen to the Doctors and do what they say.....Eric

Rich Anderson 09-13-2012 01:58 PM

Thanks for the update Chuck it's good news. proof positive that the power of prayer does work.

no likker, smokes or fried chicken is a bummer......but so is the alternative.

Gary Carmichael Sr 09-13-2012 02:52 PM

Obviously the power of prayer works! Very few people get a second chance, Steve hang in there and obey them doctors, keeping you and your wife in my prayers, Gary

todd allen 09-13-2012 08:13 PM

Thoughts and prayers going out.

Quit the smokes Steve - they'll kill you quicker but don't give up on the other two...

In the words of my 'Dearly Departed Ol' Mother'... "Moderation is for Monks."

Dean, I am worried, seems as though I like all the things they are telling Steve to lay off of. I like a good cigar, A good drink of whiskey, and damn I love fried chicken! and yea I am 70 but I still stare and admire a good looking woman. I think this is the fourth part of this equation, lust makes the blood flow freely thus lowering the risk associated with the aforementioned vices. So the moral is if you are going to eat fried chicken, smoke, drink, you have to do the fourth and most important part of the equation, Steve, I hope this makes you smile, Gary

Dave Suponski 09-13-2012 09:03 PM

I hope so too Gary! Sure gave me a chuckle....:rotf:

Yeah Gary but your whiskey is pure and natural.......:rotf:

Gary Carmichael Sr 09-13-2012 10:18 PM

Eric, It is sort of organic and orgasmic and it will cure what ails you. guaranteed or your money back. I think that is what all the snake oil salesmen said. Gary

Bill Murphy 09-21-2012 05:43 PM

OK, let's get Steve back into the discussion unless there is some other thread where he is being discussed.

Gary Carmichael Sr 09-21-2012 11:18 PM

Has any body heard as of this date how he is coming along Gary

Dean Romig 09-22-2012 06:24 AM

I read on the other forum (gunshop) that he is up and about and that he and his wife have sworn off smoking.

Tom Wyraz 09-22-2012 07:32 AM

I got a txt from Steve and he said he's recouping nicely....but the Dr's say no Vintagers for him this year. His smile (& guns) will be missed by his buds in Addieville next weekend.

I do know about this - just had heart attack myself - 6 blockages - 5 bypasses - good thought and wishes to you Steve. I know you'll be a good member in the 'zipper club' - Tony and Lonnie

Anthony Cibelli 09-22-2012 08:10 PM

PS - Steve - I just spoke to my doctor - he said you must have at least 2 beers a day - or - 2 glasses of wine per day - or 2 glasses of Scotch a day - I picked Scotch - this is from the best heart doctor in my neck of the woods! get better soon - Tony

jim garrett 09-24-2012 09:04 AM

Some say that all we can do is pray for Steve....that is the most we can do!

Jim Thynne 09-24-2012 07:32 PM

I have had the pleasure of working with selling and buying from Steve Barnett, He is the hardest working guy in the business, and a good friend. I will call him to see how he is.

Jim Thynne 09-24-2012 07:41 PM

I just talked to Steve, they did a double bypass but his humor was in working order. He gave up smoking, and you guys keep reminding him. He is doing well and will spend a couple of hours a day at the shop.
