Please meet "Starre" the newest member of the Hodges Household of Gilford, NH. He is a one year old LLewellin Setter and is field ready. I will be traveling to NM on September 22 to pick him up and bring him to his new home.

Absolutely beautiful setter. Enjoy Starre, he'll look really good in the New England coverts--or here in the mountains of NC. i hope for both of your enjoyment.

Thanks. I am very excited to get him home. When I told my sister who lives in Maine about this new pruchase this evening, she immediately said "buy me a ticket I am going with you", so I will have company on the trip. :)

Daryl Corona 08-15-2012 09:23 PM

Beautiful dog Steve. He sure looks like he has that fire in his belly to be a great hunting companion. May you both have many years in the field together along with a nice smallbore Parker.

Dave Suponski 08-15-2012 09:25 PM

Stephen Hodges 08-15-2012 09:27 PM

Larry Frey 08-16-2012 09:15 AM

Congratulations Steve, she certainly isn’t camera shy. It would be worth a plane ticket just to find out how they manage to get such fantastic action photos.

Mills Morrison 08-16-2012 12:41 PM

Congratulations! And just in time for hunting season too

Paul Plager 08-16-2012 10:35 PM

Beautiful dog, congrats. I know that he will be as special to you and your family as Gunner is to Rich's.

Destry L. Hoffard 08-17-2012 11:58 AM

Nice! Should be death on woodcock. What's the grouse cycle like up there these days?

Destry

Rich Anderson 08-17-2012 12:29 PM

Nice looking dog, congrats. How did you manage to find a started dog esp in NM? As Gunner winds down I'll need another canine not to replace him as that just can't be done but to take some of the burden off Daisy.

In the northern part of the state, by my camp in Pittsburg, NH, we are on the third year of a very high cycle. From what I am seeing and from reports of other guys that know what they are talking about we may be at an historical high this year. Shoud be a great time to get Starre used to the whims of old ruff!

John Dallas 08-17-2012 05:49 PM

Rich - Call me at the cabin. 989-348-6662. I may have a lead for you if you're looking for a GSP grouse-type dog

A real beauty with those setter eyes that touch the soul and warm the heart. A real blessing to share your days afield with a great looking setter.

Well, Star and I have been getting used to each other, he has been here just over two weeks. He is a really nice dog. This morning we got into some stocked pheasants and got our first birds. He pointed and held point very well.

Dean Romig 10-12-2012 12:12 PM

'Scuse me?.... is that a Browning??

Dean Romig 10-12-2012 12:13 PM

What a lovely pup though.

I'll let the 'Browning thing' slide this time.

Yup, pretty much:bowdown:

Dean Romig 10-12-2012 01:00 PM

He had the perfect 12 ga. Parker DHE preserve pheasant gun... (operative word - "had")

Pretty dog though - and he looks very biddable.

Dave Suponski 10-12-2012 01:34 PM

Wonderful looking dog Steve but I question your choice of scattergun. We need to have a sit down I think......:rotf:
