Parker Frame Size
 

Question anyone, I own my Grandfather's 12 Parker shotgun. When he died, in 1978, he left me a two-door '63 Chevy Impala and my uncle, his Parker shotgun...I traded even up...car for the gun...
The manuf. year was 1920. It is a D grade, Titanic Steel...where do I find the Frame size?

Bill,On the rear most portion of the barrel lug.Or you could measure the firing pin holes center to center.

Take the barrels off and look on the lug (the protrusion that locks the barrels to the frame) . It is probably stamped 1-1/2 or 2 if its a 12 ga. You might also see the last 3 digits of the serial number just around the corner of the lug from the frame size.

Thanks Dave, i found it....just over-looked it....think i made a bad trade back in 1978? The gun had a lot more centimental value than the car did...it was my grandfather bought that gun new...first gun i ever shot...he let me borrow it to go dove hunting for the first time, boy my arm was sore that night!

I used to drive a 1962 Impala to go dove hunting. What motor does your 1963 Impala have? Post pictures of the car and the gun and we'll tell you whether you made a good deal. If you didn't keep the Impala indoors since 1978, the gun would be the better deal.

I think just based on sentimental value alone you are way ahead with that trade.

My 62 Impala had a 327 with solid lifters, 4.56 rear end, Hooker headers, and did I mention three four barrel carburetors. With the Mickey Thompsons on it was hard to keep the front end on the ground.:eek: One day I will tell you about the 64.

Believe me, the Parker has been kept indoors....i have not shot that gun in 20 years!

and then there's the "iron lung" 454" Suburban

how can i tell if the stock has been cut-off or modified on this gun? There is no butt plate on the end..it always just had a shoulder pad slipped on.

Show us a picture and you'll likely get insightful opinions from several experts.

I think somewhere, somebody got off track....this was my grandaddy's gun, he bought it new..it was made in 1920...it was the first gun i ever shot or hunted with. When he died in 1978, he left me the 1963 chevy impala... i traded my uncle...who got the parker, back then...even up..

Ooops . . . sorry Bill. We tend to get a little off track here sometimes. No disrespect intended and we hope you're not offended.
Show us some pictures and some of us might render an opinion. You've already met a few of the most experienced Parker people here . . . they just got a little sidetracked by your mention of the Impala. You see, we have other interests too . . . besides Parkers, that is. :cheers:

Sorry to vary from your subject it just seems to happen. If that was my grandfathers Parker it would be absolutely priceless to me. You are very fortunate to have been able to regain possession. Please post some photos when you get a chance.
