I obtained my first Parker Bros double barrel shotgun today. Serial number puts it in the 1877 range. It is a lifter and I really have enjoyed doing the research on this nice shotgun. The one I have is a 12 ga. plain twist lifter model. I cannot tell if has the original stock or not. I will continue to research to figure it out. It is a family piece and I am the lucky one to get it handed down too! Tad

Congratulations Tad! You just can't beat a 'Family heirloom' like a Parker.

Thanks Dean! As you might imagine I am excited!

I see the picture now. It looks like the stock and forend wood might be replacements. That doesn't matter though. Have the gun checked over by a competent gunsmith who knows his old doubles to see if it is safe to shoot - then go carry on the family tradition of putting meat on the table with it.

Hello Tad, Thoes hammer guns are neet. From who did you get it Mom Dad?

Tad Kepley 07-03-2012 07:32 AM

It was passed down to me from my father. It was given to him by my uncle and it was his grandfathers shotgun. I am really enjoying showing it off. Tad

Tad, are you one of the Keplys in High Point that run Keplys BBQ that is good stuff !

Tad Kepley 07-26-2012 07:04 AM

Not the same Kepley family. However I have heard that is some good BBQ. We have so many good BBQ places here in Lexington that I never get to High Point. Lexington BBQ (The Monk) The BBQ Center and Speedy's to name a few! We love our BBQ. By the way, can you tell if my Parker has an aftermarket stock and forend on it? I can send you more pictures if necessary. Tad

Definitely not an original stock. Should look more like one in the link below:

Tad,

Yes, the wood on the gun is not original. Also, look at that breech on the gun. Looks a bit off face / loose.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the info on the stock. I wish it was an original but unfortunately that is not the case. My guess is no such thing as original stocks/furniture to be had??
