VH stock

Was a VH grade Parker ever available with a teardrop stock? even as a special order?
thanks Tony

???

Rick Losey 06-29-2012 01:58 PM

I would assume he is reffering to the "tear drop" off the back of the side panel

Mark Ouellette 06-29-2012 02:09 PM

Hmmm, I suppose one could have ordered a D Grade Stock and checkering on a VH but why would they have done so?

Without a Parker letter stating that a D Grade Stock and checkering were ordered with the VH, or upgraded by Parker Brothers or Remington, it would be considered replaced by other than Parker.

One of our members has a wonderful 26" VHE with C grade wood and the gun letters.

Mark Ouellette 06-29-2012 02:54 PM

Yup, the gun letters ...

Bill Murphy 06-29-2012 03:00 PM

I'd like to see a picture of the gun and the letter. What a gun that must be.

Dave Suponski 06-29-2012 03:26 PM

Yes it is Bill, Maybe the owner will see this post and put up some pictures. I am pretty sure he posted pictures of it here some years back.

Brian Dudley 06-29-2012 09:02 PM

I think the technical term is drop points. Or maybe not...

Anthony Cibelli 06-29-2012 09:05 PM

thank you
please keep me posted - Tony

finder's fee offered for an original VH 20 or 16 gauge stock with the original Parker butt plate - for the right price!
thanks - Tony

Anthony,

Please post the frame size and serial number range of the gun, i.e. 135,xxx. The drop of Parker's top tang varied throughout their years of production. This means that not all Parker stocks are interchangable even between receivers of the same frame size.

Mark

I have 2 different No. 1 frame Parkers that are within a few thousand S/N of each other and they do not interchange at all.

Dave Suponski 07-02-2012 04:00 PM

As Mark correctly mentioned. The drop(angle) of the top tang of the frame will vary. One of the biggest differences I have noticed is between pistol grip stocked guns and straight stocked guns. In fact the angle of the floor plate tang(for lack of a better word) varies quite a bit also between these two stock styles. This by itself is a big reason these stocks are not "bolt on's".

#131424 - pistol grip stock VH 20 gauge
thanks - Tony

Anthony,

I am not sure what your VH 20 with 32" barrels is worth but I bet it is plenty! If it were me for a highly collectable Parker such as yours, I'd pay a professional to find and fit a proper Parker stock to it.

Just my not so humble opinion,
Mark
