Richard Flanders was kind enough to give me some very sound advise when I started hunting for my first Parker. It was something like 'get the best and highest grade gun you can afford'. I thought it good enough to pay an additional $2,500 and picked up a nice BHE 30 inch duck slayer.

Couldn't be happier with my first parker; thanks Richard. Would also like to thank Mr. Hoffard for turning me on to a good cork decoy maker and Mr. Densmore for supplying me with two good calls; the local mallards are much worse for the wear.

I found an old picture on the web (50's ?) and decided it will be the club sign (taking delivery from my buddy Jim in Colusa CA). The other side is identical but says Lucky Pair. The sign is rotated depending on the previous days shoot.

We leave 400 acres of the property as refuge and hold a good number of birds. We only shoot 4 blinds on the other 320; very civilized.

Brian, Thumbs up on your post! I guess John still has me in purgatory.

Looks like one of the bait girls that served us on fishing trips out of Newport, OR 40 years ago.

Beautiful gun. That Flanders guy gives sage advice. Oh, nice sign too.

Richard Flanders 05-01-2012 10:08 PM

Thanks Brian. First I've seen the gun. Nice! The dogs on the sides are incredible. As the old knight said to Indie in the movie, "you have chosen well".... Looks like good duck hunting too. I think I better find a way to take you up on your offer to join you sometime!!

Brian Stucker 05-01-2012 10:15 PM

Anytime Richard....I owe you for the great advice.

Dean Romig 05-01-2012 10:32 PM

What a wonderful B!! You have done well.

And what a great set of.... pics. Really! Nice pictures.... ahem... Nice!

Brian Stucker 05-01-2012 11:45 PM

What a feeling to have someone say 'nice gun' who really knows what they are talking about. Appreciate the supportive comments from all of you.

Kurt Densmore 05-07-2012 10:42 PM

What a beauty !!
Oh...........nice gun too.....

What does that wonderful BH have engraved on the floor plate????

Kurt

Brian Stucker 05-07-2012 11:00 PM

Hey Kurt, the floor plate has a pair of Mallards flying over some tules. It's a neat marsh scene.

Ya know, it's the damndest thing, but I have a friend who trained his dog to do this.

calvin humburg 05-08-2012 08:45 AM

Yes, very nice.

Brian Stucker 05-08-2012 11:43 AM

Mister edgarspencer, good one. Really enjoyed seeing your comment this morning (still chuckling). My hunting partner used to share the chore, then he got a bum knee.

So, it's either get a hunting dog or find someone with two good knees to hunt with.

How are your knees?

Mark Ouellette 05-08-2012 01:39 PM

Good knees, better dog, vintage SxS's with proven handloads...

Destry L. Hoffard 05-08-2012 02:34 PM

That image was originally off a postcard from Wisconsin. The only original I've ever seen appear on eBay I bid something insane like $150 and didn't get it. Nice to see the girl is getting some good press.

Brian, One of my Border Collies will retrieve absolutely anything. The only problem is I have to throw it first.

Brian Stucker 05-09-2012 12:11 PM

Destry, we paid about $500 to make the sign. The printer had to sub the digital imaging out to a Christian Printer. Initially refusing the work, he finally relented and did the work on the weekend without wifey's knowledge. May be true, may be not. We all had a good laugh and can't wait to commission additional work.

edgarspencer, Hahahahaha (enjoying mental video).

John Havard 05-13-2012 11:13 AM

Looks like a very nice setup Brian. I love the sign!

Brian Stucker 05-13-2012 11:33 AM

Morning John, looks like we were neighbors in the 90's. I lived in Ross before retiring and moving 'up to the country'. Nice to see someone from the neighborhood on the forum.

John Havard 05-13-2012 11:41 AM

Well Brian, I was either in Alaska or Los Angeles or Chicago, depending on what part of the '90's you were in Ross. BTW, Ross is an awfully nice little village. I've only been in this part of the world for about 18 months and am still trying to have it feel like home. One of my biggest regrets about being here is a lack of places where I can shoot my Parkers with lead shot. A Parker languishing in the safe is a terrible thing to waste. I own several although none are as nice as your B-grade.
