Who is coming to the Southern
Just trying to get alittle talk/ excitment going.
Also anyone with any new guns? |
Hi John,
This year will be mine and Deb's 9th year at the Southern and we wouldn't miss it for anything. As usual I will be shooting my 12 gage 30" pigeon gun choked mod and full. Deb finally has a gun that fits her, a CHE 12 gage with open chokes that was already restocked before I got it so I did not feel guilty at all having it cut and fitted with a very nice leather covered pad to 13 1/2". With the mild spring we are having we have been able to get out and shoot some sporting clays and a little skeet for practice so there will be no excuses for poor shooting. We look forward to seeing everyone there and just hope the weather continues to cooperate for a couple of more weeks. |
John,
I'll be there with a few new guns. No need here to get the excitement going. It's been brewing since early March. We need to take our first hammer gun challenge victory back with us this year. See you there. Daryl |
This will be the third year in a row that Kathy and I have had to miss it. We'll miss the great company most of all and wish you all the very best of times.
|
I will be there with a new to me AHE 16 with 30" DAM 6 barrels factory choked CYL and Full. It will not help me shoot any better just make me feel better about missing!:)
David |
David, I am so glad you're coming to the Southern. I am looking forward to seeing your new gun! Oh yea, it will be nice to see you also!
Buddy |
Rich Anderson and I will be down there getting on Thur. Hopefully we can get a group together (like last year) and shoot that other sporting clays club on Friday. That was a lot of fun last year, maybe this year we can get a morning and afternoon round in this year.

Eric
Please include me in that if you have room. I was coming up Fri AM but will change that to Thur if I can. David |
Dave there is room for whomever want's to come. We had a great time last year.
|
No Southern for me this year, have fun boys.
Destry |
I know this is earthshaking news, but I'll be there.
Here's wishing that everyone who wants to go can and everyone who can, will. We will be having a great time I guanantee it. I'm sure that rascally Dave F from CA will be there and mabey Ron G it he can. I understand that Dave will be previewing several new hammergun irons that he has had in the fire. Oh yeah! All you guys who are coming, please be sure to include plans for the hammergun challenge. We are hoping to bag that elusive trophy for the Parker Team. I'll post some pictures from previous challenges later... |
Mr. Dwyer if your going to shoot with us your new 16 must pass inspection first. Luckily I'm the one doing the inspecting:bowdown:
I've gotten a couple of new shootin irons but won't be debuting them at the Southern. I do hope to make a dream come true while there with the adoption of a 410 I've had my eye on. |
David,
C.O.B reluctantly took on this burdensome responsibility of inspection of 16ga. high grade guns a few years back. Before handing over your firearm to him please make sure you write down the s/n and take some identifying photos just to protect yourself and your heirs. There are lawsuits pending in the state of NC from last years inspections by C.O.B. You need not worry if they are 20 or 28ga. They will be returned the same day. The 16's on the other hand seem to take an inordinate amount of time. Please do shoot with us. It's the highlight of the whole weekend. |
Danny and I will be travelling down to the Southern with Mr and Mrs. Frey. We should arrive Weds. evening. Danny is already talking about the beautiful southern women he met last year.... We can't wait to see all you'se guys and burn an inordinate amount of powder.
David, As you know 16 gauge guns hold a very warm spot in my heart. So with that being said if you are concerned about COB inspecting your gun I would be happy to oblige... Maybe the cooler New England climate would be good for the "Ol Girl" There should be a wonderful 16 gauge waiting for me there alas not a Parker but still a great gun. Unless it disappears between now and then....:nono: |
Boys,
There seems to be alot of talk regarding the 16 gauges this year. Might I suggest a 16 ga event to be taken place on sunday after the hammer event. Open to Parker hammer or hammerless 16 bores only. |
Real men shoot 20's. 28's when they feel lucky. Just open it up for any smallbore and we'll have a go of it.
|
A small bore event would be alot of fun. What do yall say?
|
Unfortunately, Sunday is travel day for many of us. Maybe we should modify our schedules to stay another day in Sanford. COB, what's the story on the .410? Is it a Parker?
|
I'm in and I'll even coordinate if necessary. 1oz. max. load.
|
Mr. Murphy you are correct. However an impromptu small bore event might be alot of fun for those interested. Just trying to keep things interesting.
|
Daryl,
This could be alot of fun. I am sure it can be put together Saturday night. |
Sounds like fun :crying:
|
Didn't they have a trap event at the fall S X S event last year? Why can't we have a trap event here, this spring. Parkers vs. anyone. I would love to bring my sbt for this. Just a thought. Frank. P>S> I will be there again this year.

Southern
Need a road trip after a winter in Wisconsin-wife said lets go east. Arrangements are made. Our first event of this kind. I want to see some purty guns and smell some smoke.

Fall Classic Trap Event
I believe Rick Hemmingway is planning an any gun trap event both Friday and Saturday this year. It may change but ....... Cheers, Tom
|
I love the idea of a 16ga event-My two favorite shooters are this AHE 16 and a D grade 16 hammer. I'm in. Is 16 ga small bore?
See y'all Friday David |
I'm bringing the Hollywood Gun anyway which is a 16 so I'm in for a small bore event.
Bill the 410 is a Fox (CSM) FE:) |
John
You need to shoot a 410 to make it fair!! David |
Maybe blindfold him and let "The Force" guide him to the target.
|
I figure a five stand event on Sunday after the hammer event. We can iron out the details there.
Boys dont worry about me. Its Carl that you have to be careful of. Esp with his 16 ga. He is deadly with that thing. We can make this a very fun thing for those interested. |
Sorry, I will not make it to the Southern this year. If anybody needs offset firing pins for that old lifter hammer gun please let me know quick. There's still time to get them to you.
Thanks, Dave |
