at the moment

what would be your dream gun of choice....mine would be a 4 ga double barrel..... charlie

Mills Morrison 04-05-2012 02:30 PM

I'll take an 8 gauge Parker hammerless with Damascus barrels

King Brown 04-05-2012 02:47 PM

It's not a dream gun, charlie, but I intend to make it one by shooting geese, ducks, grouse with it next season. I shoot it well but haven't used it on grouse and geese. That would turn my 16ga hammer 0 frame 1889 double Parker into a dream gun for me. The truth of it is that dreams change as everything else. I now look to lighter guns with a history in my dreams.

Bill Murphy 04-05-2012 05:16 PM

My Parker "dream gun" would be my old 8 pound VH 32" 20 gauge serial number 153,333 that I foolishly sold many years ago.

Mills Morrison 04-05-2012 05:23 PM

Dreaming aside, my favorite gun of all time is my Parker Trojan 20 gauge that my wife gave me as a wedding present. It takes down quail like nobody's business.

william faulk 04-05-2012 05:31 PM

Allways wanted a vhe.. 28ga with 30" barrels and an English style stock at 15" LOP.
I shot my uncles gun when I was a boy..now owned by one of my cousins.

I hope to pick up one of my dream guns at the Southern the end of this month. If money were no object and as we are dreaming I'd like a matched pair of David McKay Brown round action SXS in 28ga. Both guns with 30 inch barrels, straight stock, 15" LOP. One set choked SKt/IC the other M/IM.

A dream realized is no longer a dream.

Mills Morrison 04-05-2012 09:39 PM

On my wife's and my annual quail hunt in South Georgia last year, one of the other guests had a David McKay Brown. What amazing engraving!

King Brown 04-06-2012 10:37 AM

A tangent on charlie's dream gun: I wonder to what extent high-end embellishments turn dream guns into closet guns, adornments that seriously limit their uses afield, shadows of memories, not the real thing? A gun not used is an affectation to me. Exceptions for collectors and investments but even they're tacking away from a dream! Apologies.

Rich Anderson 04-06-2012 11:02 AM

King I have gone through that to nice to use phase with some NIB Winchester M70's and a couple of Parker Repo's. If I can't use it I don't want it. An A1 special was built to be used and if I owned one I'd use it.

David Holes 04-06-2012 12:09 PM

A hammer 16, in grade 2 damascus, on a zero frame. Any length barrels would be just fine. Dave

Destry L. Hoffard 04-06-2012 12:39 PM

I actually own it already, so the dream is realized.

COB:
I will certainly second your position on guns too nice to use. I once asked Peter Blaine, GM of Purdey's if the finest guns his firm makes are too special to use. "Absolutely not!" he said. "That's what they're made for. Use them!"

Best, Kensal

Already have mine. 12ga, #1frame, 30" F&M, 7#, BHE with dimensions like I had ordered them.

Pete Lester 04-07-2012 01:42 PM

My dream gun is just that a dream, a 10ga Trojan, 30" on a 2 frame, 8 1/2 pounds, with dimensions that fit me.

Fred Preston 04-07-2012 02:50 PM

Pete, I have 2 frame VH 12 with barrels shortened to 26". I shot a 1&1/2oz mag in once and burst the left barrel, probably honed out, maybe obstruction. I bit the bullet and paid Kirk Merrington to sleeve a new set on the old block, skeet choked. The gun is very effective and gets a lot of use; but, I got to thinking, what if I had Kirk put a couple of short chambered 10s on it with skeet chokes.

Kirk is in the hospital being treated for Lukemia.
He is not doing well..Bill

Mills Morrison 04-07-2012 02:57 PM

That is not good news.

10's are fun but to me the fun is the enhanced long range performance over smaller bores. So with that said I like your idea but the skeet chokes take away from what the 10 does best.

Fred Preston 04-07-2012 08:13 PM

Exactly. With an added 20% weight of shot at the same velocity, you should be able to extend the range of field shooting and over decoy work by 10 yards or so. Also, a short barreled, 7&1/2 pound 10 without a Wells Fargo stamp would be kinda cool.

Bill Murphy 04-09-2012 08:50 PM

I know how to make a ten gauge Trojan, but I will keep it a secret until I complete my project. If anyone is on my wavelength, feel free to post.

charlie cleveland 04-15-2012 03:06 PM

im gonna make a guess....buy you a set of10 ga frame size 2 barrels and have them fitted to the trogan 12 ga frame size two... bill youve really got me guessing... charlie

Gary Carmichael Sr 04-16-2012 07:48 AM

My dream gun, well it actually exist but not in my gun room, and it is a AA hammer gun, have to win the lottery to get one!
