Wax Job

Marvin Huey recommended Meguiar' s Fine Cut on gun stocks, followed by their Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax. Here is an original finish gun, called a wallhanger by some, with that done to it. Before and after pictures. Took off a little dirt, helped the old car some also. The car is Light ivory, and has a tinge of yellowish cream in it, which washed out in the photo.

Wow!I'm going to try this one.How aggressively are you using the Fine cut?

Not very. A light hand was all. Plenty of quantity so that the cloth didn't get dry.

I took the car to the car wash first, but not the gun.

A little off subject, but noticed the woodie in the background. Tried to figure it out (Ford, Merc???) but the wheels are throwing me. What's the story. Looks pristine whatever it is.

1949 Ford. Plain blackwalls. Trim rings and hubcaps were off.

Bruce; The gun is beautiful, and just what is the little white car?

I do like fast sports cars. Fun on a friend's ranch in Texas. Summer nights in a pair of big block roadsters.

Very nice! Great sound, great wind in the hair on a summer evening. One of the great Brit sports cars. Looks to be fully correct. 66 or 67?

Russ Jackson 06-17-2009 07:33 PM

Bruce; The car is a ,1967 3000 Mk 111, I have owned some form of a sports car since I was 16 years old, I was between cars and my wife became pregnant and I figured we would be spending a little extra time at home so I bought this car in a basket ,took two truck loads and a trailer to drag it in ,stripped down every nut and bolt back in 1990, and started on it , I had a professional do the body and paint work and I did all of the other rebuilding and reassembling, even including the interior reupholstering, took almost five years to complete, when it was finished it was early summer and the Pittsburgh , Vintage Grand Prix was around the corner so my buddies talked me into entering it in the Big Healey division and out of 67 Big Healeys I ended up taking first place, I have to tell you I couldn't believe it !Not bad for an old hill billy and a first time amateur restoration !
