To get some talk going and maybe some pictures. What is your go to parker for sporting clays/ skeet/ trap?

I would post pictures of mine but she is off getting some work done.

Don't use 16 or 12 on games, just feathers, mostly over decoys.

The most fun I have shooting SC is with my 12ga. 1886 hammer gun, and for some reason I shoot it pretty well considering the dimensions.

John, Danny has the D2 and the GH right now. When they return I'll show you. You and Carl going to the fun shoot at CVASC this coming Saturday?

My go to SC gun is an embelished GHE 16. It came from Alex Kerrs in Beverly Hills and is a two bbl set with all the options. I use the skeet bbls but will put the M/F set on for the 5 stand at the Southern. I shoot some skeet with this also but in the summer it's almost exclusively SC or 5 stand. For most of the 5 stand courses I'll use a DHE 12 trap or a grade 3 #2 frame hammer gun.

Its just my old family beater, a 1921 PHE 16/28 on a 1 frame. About 80,000 rounds through it, still on face, barrels reblued, springs replaced at various times, forend lug resoldered, I refinished the wood, barrels still on face. All kinds of loads through it from 7/8oz to 1 1/8oz, everything from woodcock to geese and all sorts of clay targets. Chokes are about mod and mod, still no wear in the bores. Still original chambers.

It has an old, seen better days, A&F leg of mutton case, restitched here and there, and reproductions of the original sleeves provided by Parker that were made by my mother.

It was my grandfather's, who bought it secondhand from Kautzky's in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Joe, Rudy and Marie Kautzky were champion trapshooters. Joe invented the Lazy Ike fishing lure and made my father a combat knife which he took with him to Saipan and Okinawa. I still have the knife. My grandfather used the gun to hold down barb wire fence strands so he could climb over. I steamed out the grooves, and sometimes now I have mixed feelings whether I should have done that. Its like we all want a gun to look better or even new but sometimes in doing so we take away memories.

Its been with me through all my working days, with me everywhere, through six bird dogs. I have fancier guns, nobody gets very excited about this one, but I think I'll keep it.

Mine is a #2 frame d grade top lever hammer gun that was a rescue.

I cant wait to see those two together. They will complement each other very well. I will not make the fun shoot. Too much going on right now to shoot.
My guns should be back from Daves in a week or so.

I generally use my VH 16 on a 1 frame. It is now choked IC/IC, since my friend had only an IC choke reamer.This is my go to gun and I have no regrets about changing it from its original M/F boring. That said, I shoot sporting clays much better with my FAIR Rizzini 600 w/ double triggers o/u .

The VH 16 is the one on the bottom and it has a beartooth comb piece to get rid of some of the drop and I have a skinny little cheek.

As of the 2011 season, my 'go to' gun for the Ruffed Grouse is a nice, 1929 vintage Trojan in 20 gauge with 28 inch barrels, choked modified and full. My 'nostalgia' grouse gun is an 1886 vintage Grade 1 (I) top lever hammer gun in 10 gauge. It has 30 inch 'Laminated Steel' barrels with their original full and full chokes.

I shot my share of these birds with my Gh grade 12 ga with D grade stock.
Mornings shoot was 8 Pheasant,10 Chuckar and 6 H.Partridge.
Used RST spreaders right barrel and Lite 7 1/2 s in the left.Worked perfect!

12 GAUGE GH. 30" DAMASCUS BARRELS ARE CHOKED IC AND IC. # 2 FRAME. IN ADDITION, A NICE SET OF EARLY 30" VH FLUID STEEL BARRELS HAVE BEEN CUSTOM FIT TO THIS FINE OLD GUN. CHOKES ARE IMP MOD AND IMP MOD. GUN WEIGHS 8 POUNDS WITH EITHER SET OF BARRELS INSTALLED. THIS IS AN AWESOME GUN IN THE FIELD AND ON THE RANGE.

Nice piece of English on Ed's buttstock. I still don't know where we stand on Grade 2 stock wood. Some seems to be black walnut and some is English.

Fella's those are some really fine looking guns. I like the fact they are being used and not just hid away.

I have been searching for some 2 7/8 10 Gauge shells with no luck.

Sean, if you don't reload, RST has a nice assortment of 2-7/8" shells for your 10. I load an ounce of 7-1/2 shot in my short 10s. Polywad Vintagers are what I use in my 20 gauge.

What's the top gun with the english stock, looks like a D grade? How long are the barrels?? I'd like a closer look if you have pictures on file!

Chris, you are right. It is a DHE 16 , O frame, 26" barrels factory choked cyl/mod, 6 lbs on the nose. Factory letter attests to the above, but lists it with a half pistol grip. Taking off the trigger guard, the straight grip does have the proper serial # in the wood and on the back of the trigger guard. Factory records say the stock was redressed in 1910 and the stock must have been changed then, unless it never was a half grip in the first place. The gun was delivered in 1905. There are more pictures of it and the factoty letter on this forum under DHE 16 in Dec and Jan. The gun in the middle is a restored VH 20 w/ 26" barrels.
