What, no lot numbers? :duck:

Robin Lewis 10-07-2009 10:03 AM

If you have the catalog, the prices I posted follow the lot numbers in order - first to last. It should be easy to follow. If you don't have the catalog, lot numbers don't mean much.:duck:

Dean Romig 10-07-2009 10:16 AM

Thanks Robin.

Larry Frey 10-07-2009 12:37 PM

Thanks for the info Robin. It would seem either the market is very soft or Julia really overestimated some of these guns. I did not check them all but the first ten items failed to reach even the low estimate by approximately $160,000.00. The one gun that jumps right out at me is the CHE 20 that you list as sold for $65K. I am guessing you meant $6.5K. It's a nice gun but with a pinned wrist and the wood and barrels redone I don't believe someone would pay $65K plus commission.

Eric Eis 10-07-2009 03:30 PM

I wonder how many of those guns made their reserve...

Don Kaas 10-07-2009 03:53 PM

Time to re-value the asset side of the balance sheet Eric:shock:

Robin Lewis 10-07-2009 04:10 PM

I noticed the same thing even before the Parkers came up on the block, minimums were not met on many of the guns.

Sorry about the type-O, I make no guarantee for accuracy -It has been said that you get what you pay for and you can guess how much I was paid to enter all that!

Well - if it's any consolation - I make a motion that we double your salary, Robin.. :)

Hang on.. Let me get out my abacus.....

OK...

Two.....

Times.....

Zero....

Equals...????

Hang on - my abacus is busted....

:)

Actually - and seriously - I really appreciate your posting that information. While I tried to attend the auction as I wanted to bid on a few of the Parkers, I got called away to sponsor a shoot yesterday.

Anyway - Thanks Robin!

JD

Is Don implying that my VH 12 gauges aren't worth more than $225.00? I was hoping for a bit of an increase in value over the years.

George Lander 10-07-2009 06:20 PM

The catalogue is still on line for any that don't have the printed version.

Best Regards, George

Bill Murphy 10-07-2009 06:31 PM

Yeah, click on the gun section of the website, click on "current auction", use the search function for "parker" and the guns will appear in the order in which Robin posted them. Thank you, Robin. I hate waiting for the prices to appear on the website. Let's hit the "thanks" button on Robin's post. I just did that.

Bill Murphy 10-07-2009 06:41 PM

A couple of years ago, Kevin McCormack and I were talking to a fellow we have known since I was a kid and Kevin wasn't much older and he was telling us how he doubled his money when he bought the pair of A1 Specials that sold in the auction for $225,000. Kevin may correct my memory, but I think he paid $2500 and sold them for $5000, maybe it was less. Abercrombie and Fitch paid $325. Another friend of Kevin's and mine owned the guns in between our other friend and the consignor. If we grill our friends about whom they purchased the guns from, we would have an amazing, almost complete history of this pair of guns and a 6000 percent ??? appreciation. Or is it 60,000 percent ???

Julia Auction

Mr. Murphy,
I know you like guns with some provenance, so how many of the Lee Marvin pieces did you buy from the Julia Auction ?

I'll have to go back to the website and see what Lee was selling.

Bill ... Lee Marvin was one of my favorite actors, but I hardly think Lee is very capable of selling anything ... from his grave at Arlington National Cemetery.

James, you really think that I don't know where Mr. M Squad dwells?

James Brown 10-09-2009 12:36 PM

Results are published on Julia web site. Looks like the A1 pair (and several others) did not sell.
James

Robin Lewis 10-09-2009 01:25 PM

WOW, that's says that 30% of the Parkers didn't sell!?

Dave Suponski 10-09-2009 01:34 PM

Wow is right Robin! I wonder... a sign of our lousy economy? Or has our beloved Parkers topped out....or both.

Dean Romig 10-09-2009 01:36 PM

Would you say that it "pays" or "doesn't pay" to set a reserve??

I think it "pays" by protecting your investment. Guaranteed there were a lot of people who intended to capitalize in this auction because of the economy.

No Dave, I don't believe Parkers have "topped out" but for the time being I think they are stable with regard to the economy.

David Dwyer 10-09-2009 01:38 PM

The Julia website does not seem to like me(they may not be the only ones! )
and will not let me register to see the results. Can anyone tell me which ones did not sell? I thought the prices were fair considering the condition of the guns.
David

Larry Frey 10-09-2009 01:43 PM

Dave, go here and scroll down about half way.

Robin,

My notes show the original VHE 410ga at 23k, not 32k.

Robin Lewis 10-09-2009 03:56 PM

Josh,

I checked my notes.... you are correct. Another type-:o for me.

Oh boy, hear it comes. :duck:

Only 23K for a field used VHE .410 skeet. What is the world coming to?

Bill, From the way your post was worded, I didn't think you knew that Lee Marvin had passed away ... That sort of thing happens to all of us at one time or another ... If you took offense ... I sincerely apologize !

Jim Kucaba ... AriZOOna Cactus Patch ... Email; JimKucaba@aol.com

Bill Murphy 10-10-2009 10:18 AM

I never take offense at you, James. Congratulations on your recovery.
