Parker gun lamp and hang tags
 

I thought afew of you may be interested in my Parker Gun lamp. I bought it from an antique dealer in Wheeling, Wv about 15 years ago. He stated that it had originaly come from the gun room of Abercrombie and Fitch. As you can see it has the Parker hinge pin, and really does look like a Parker. The lamp does work and is in my den.
I also enclosed pictures of the hang tags from my 16 VH Parker. I dont know how common it is to have these particularly on lower grade guns.

Here is what the original lamp shade looked like.

When I still owned a '0' Grade Lifter, #10250, I was surprised to know that the original order tag was still available. I am awaiting a letter for my 1886 vintage 1/I Grade. I have learned to expect the unexpected with Parkers. Cool lamp!

Thanks for the feedback guys. There was no lampshade when I bought the lamp. What do you think of the claim that it came from the gunroom of A&F?
The hang tags are from my VH 16 which is generally the gun I carry when hunting.

The lamps come up on ebay on occasionally. It may have come from the gun room, but I believe they were something that was ordered from a mail order catalog. There is also an ashtray that used the base and shotgun.

Parker Bros. was in the hardware / home furnishings business as well as the gun business. Some of the items that they sold thru their catalogue were lamps. I have several that I purchased from the James Parker collection. None that I have, however, are in the shape of a gun.

I thought I was the only one that collected all of those things. I have never seen the big duck bookends.

Jeff this started in the late ;70's about the same time as the larger version. Don't tell Nellie but I just counted 25 pcs. Jeff did you get the goody box with the shot shells on the corners and the lamp with 2 guns? Roger

I had a mess of the Parker Bears; the little white Bear, wearing a ball cap and a bench vise on his sweater. Got tired of dusting them and ebayed them away.

Kuss must have a railroad car full of the stuff. Send us pictures of it.

Roger, As I stated before I have one of the ash trays. Do you know anything about these curios? Who made then and about when they were made etc.etc?

I have the lamp also bought it from Kevin McCormick. Also recently purchased a clock with Parker gun and duck. Similar in structure to the bookend I bet they all came from same manufacturer. The clock was made by lux.

I bid on one of the two gun lamps, but didn't get it. I have a couple of the goody boxs.
I was told that this stuff was sold in ths Stoeger's catalogs, but I have never found any in the issues that I have. I must admit that I am in the same range as you in number of items.

The patent was issued to Edward Lynch of Manhattan, N.Y. on May 14, 1941. His application stated that he had invented an original and ornamental design for a lamp. I guess a good copy of a Parker gun qualified as original.

My ash tray is stamped"Cornwall Wood Products" on the bottom.

I've had a couple pieces over the years but let them go. Some of this stuff you guys have would be keepers if I ran across it. I bid a fortune on one of the lamp shades off one of the big sporting collectibles auction houses a few years ago and didn't get it. Oddly enough, it showed up again on their next sale. I didn't bid again......

There were at least two different lampshades on the lamps. I have seen the one with the flight speed of the birds at an antique show priced at $275.00. I didn't buy it and came back later and it was gone. I have the same lamp, but with a shade of the same dimensions but it has flying pheasants on one side and ducks on the other.
Like Destry said, if you ever want to part with the bookends......

There appears to have been two companys that used the small shotgun. The Cornwall marked items are more basic and only use the shotgun. The other items are more ornate and usually use a dog, pheasant, or duck with the shotgun. Pictured are the Cornwall products.

Thanks for the info Jeff...:) So we would still think theses items are 40's/50's?

Just did a google search. Cornwall wood Products of Maine went out of business in 1967.

I'm so weird, I like seeing and reading about oddball stuff like this almost as much as I like the guns themselves. Great stuff guys, I'm really enjoying this thread.

Do any of you have or ever seen a cast Parker single barrel trap gun , if my memory is correct it was a C grade and about 18" long . Like a fool I had 2 or 3 of them in the late 60's or early 70's and sold them .

Sounds cool but I've never seen anything like it.

I've got a set of drawer pulls that are similar to the guns on all these decorative items but they're all doubles.

About every 2 or 3 months I stop by and ask the guy that owns this vise if he wants to sell it. No luck yet. I'm not a big collector (OK a little maybe) but this vise is huge and turns like butter.... and its a Parker

Great thread, dead now for a decade. The neatest Parker item I've seen was at the Baltimore show in the late sixties. It was a floor lamp made out of an eight gauge Parker with the cord routed through a hole in the breech face and up the barrel. I didn't buy it but the disappointment has followed me for fifty years. Who owns it now?

Cool stuff! I have this lamp waiting for me at my SIL's whenever I get around to picking it up. And this is the handle on my old gun cabinet...

I've never seen a pair in person, I saw a picture of a pair somewhere once and have been watching ever since. They are killers.

Here is one that hasn't been shown yet.

I had a set of those handles at one time, one long one and six shorts. I sold them because I didn't have anywhere I thought I'd ever use them, of course now I do.....
