charlie cleveland 01-04-2012 07:07 PM

would like to keep what hair ive got left so i think ill stay south of the ohio....have fun fellows just cant make the trip... charlie

Eric Eis 01-04-2012 09:25 PM

Tom, is this open to the general public ? Let's just say they normally are not real open to people outside of their club and it would be nice to see a change in that policy. There are quite a few Michigan shooters that are Parker members and vintage SxS shooters, just ask Paul Harm (pjforge I think is his screen name) he puts on a shoot out in Lapeer twice a year and draws 60 to 80 shooters, but everyone at that club is very welcoming. I could probably get a few shooters to come if some of the attitudes have changed at the Detroit Gun Club. Eric

John Dallas 01-04-2012 09:50 PM

I've posted a question to the DGC about guest policy. Will post as soon as I hear something.

Tom Mallad 01-04-2012 10:20 PM

Dgc

Hope this answers some questions.

1) i am a member of Detroit Gun Club
2)I spoke with our club manager Scott Behenke before posting this thread.
He said "All shooters are welcome at this match"
3) All sporting and skeet tournaments are always open to non members
4) Non members may shoot rounds as a guest of any member in good standing.

Lastly I just plain love to shoot any kind of shotgun. You guys are always so helpful to anyone with questions I thought those of you in the area might enjoy this venue at a great club.

Mark Ouellette 01-05-2012 07:10 AM

Tom,

Thank you for informing us of this SxS shoot at DGC. It seems that with you acting as host to your fellow PGCA, Fox, Smith, LeFever and other vintage gun association members that mutual fellowship in our common passion will be shared.

I have for the past season acted as an adjunct regional PGCA coordinator, i.e. volunteer, worker bee... Would you please check with your club manager for if the PGCA may use a at least an 8' table (provided by the host club) or better two tables for 16 linier feet of space to set up the PGCA banner and a few display guns, and to hand out copies of the Parker Pages which will conveniently include our informative membership application?

Also, it would be helpful if you would for your fellow members post the details of the shoot to include:
1. Address of the club
2. Anything special needed such as "Tell the gate guard you are here for the SxS shoot".
3. Registration time
4. Entry fee for us "guests" or the price of each event i.e. cost of 50 sporting clays, round of skeet and so on.
5. If food is provided in the entry fee or if food available at the club concession.

If you could provide the above requested information I think that a good group of Parker guys and other SxS enthusiasts would attend.

PS: Some PGCA members share their knowledge, less knowledgable guys like me share their time. We all do what we can. All is essential for a healthy organization. Thank you for volunteering!

Respectfully requested,
Mark

Dave Suponski 01-05-2012 07:16 AM

Great idea Mark!

Tom Mallad 01-05-2012 11:15 AM

Mark,

Hee, hee, hee -haul out the 10's and don't tell em - they won't know. Paul

Eric Eis 01-05-2012 09:58 PM

Your right Paul, this might be a fun shoot so let's see how many of the Michigan boys we can get to come. Eric

John Dallas 01-06-2012 08:11 AM

I'm planning on attending

Rich Anderson 01-06-2012 04:27 PM

Eric will you be able to shoot by then?

I used to shoot registered skeet at DGC and Scotty bitched us out for throwing peanut hull on the ground in the parking lot:eek: I'd be hard pressed to go back.

Bill Murphy 01-06-2012 04:36 PM

If any PGCA member would like to wear a DGC hat to the shoot, stop by my house and I will lend the hat to them for the shoot. Every time I am at a shoot where a DGC member will be in attendance, I wear the hat as a sign of respect. It is a very nice hat. I wish I could attend. The entry fee seems very friendly if it is sporting clays. A little pricey if it is trap and skeet. Can we clarify?

Tom Mallad 01-06-2012 05:21 PM

It is sporting clays.

Eric,

Maybe Scotty was having a bad day. But in reality who cares, Just shoot and enjoy the company of other like minded folks. If you really need me to
I can throw peanut shells at Scotty.

Tom

Bill Murphy 01-06-2012 05:29 PM

Peanut shells or wine bottles?

Eric Eis 01-06-2012 09:40 PM

No the Doc says I have to wait a full month, he said maybe the end of the month if the recoil is like a .22 :rotf: as you can guess he is not a shooter, so after I told him the recoil was alot more..... at least a month:crying: but I only have two eyes so I am not going to push it. But if you guys want to come to the shoot I'll be more the happy to walk the course and man the Parker table.

Paul Harm 01-07-2012 11:00 AM

With my bad legs, it'll have to be a nice day for me to go. I hear it's quite a walk around SC.'s. Paul

Rich Anderson 01-07-2012 08:45 PM

Bad legs my $&% Get a golf cart like you do at your shoot.

Eric Eis 01-07-2012 08:47 PM

hey Paul if I am going to be there and not be able to shoot.... Get your a....s over there just to say "hi" Eric

Tom Mallad 01-08-2012 12:03 AM

Dgc has a limited number of golf carts for rental.

Paul Harm 01-08-2012 08:34 AM

God you guys are hard on an old fart. I feel so bad think I'll sit in my easy chair and cry. Paul

Mark Ouellette 01-09-2012 07:11 AM

Gentlemen,
Tom M. and I discussed the upcoming SxS shoot at the Detroit Gun Club (DCG) on Jan 15th. The following information may be of interest to you;

1. The DGC opens at 10 AM.
2. The SxS event is 100 rounds of sporting clays.
3. The DGC sporting clays course has a paved path that will be plowed in the event of snow.
4. All target stations are with 10 yards of the paved path.
5. One may rent from the DGC or use one’s own golf cart if desired.
6. Within the membership of the DGC there are many who own a SxS who are expected to participate. The chances are that most of those DGC members will likely not be shooting a Parker. This will be an excellent opportunity to “educate” those shooters on the virtues of Parker Brothers shotguns.

Concerning our PGCA display:
A. The DGC will provide the PGCA two 8’ long folding tables within an area that we can proudly display our PGCA banner.
B. I will bring a few 10 and heavy 12 gauge hammer and hammerless Parkers for display. If others could bring and display other configurations of Parkers such as small bores and light 12 gauges it will afford us a better display.

I hope to see many of our Michigan and northern Ohio members at this shoot! It will be the middle of January. What else have you got to do?

Mark

Paul Harm 01-09-2012 04:26 PM

Ok, Dave Lozon and I will be there. Hope they don't mind " smoke '. Paul

John Dallas 01-09-2012 04:32 PM

I'm hoping to be there, and if all goes well, will be bringing a friend with his Grandpa's one owner, damascus A grade 10 gauge, as well as grandson Matt. He's #4 in the young hunter contest. Vote early and often for #4!

Tom Mallad 01-10-2012 02:37 PM

Side x Side

Looking forward to meeting everyone! I'll be the guy with the red plaid stormy kromer with my PGCA pin on it. Please find me and introduce yourselves.

Tom

John Dallas 01-10-2012 02:43 PM

Only a Michigander will know what a Stormy Kromer is.. Maybe I'll be sporting mine as well.

Dave Suponski 01-10-2012 04:41 PM

Don't forget boys we need pictures...:)

Eric Eis 01-10-2012 06:05 PM

Talk to Mark about that..... Today would have been a perfect day for the shoot, blue sky 45 degrees Sunday high of 28 possible snow. See you guys started talking about those hats .......I blame it on you guys.

Dave Suponski 01-13-2012 05:04 PM

You boys have a great time this weekend!

Tom Mallad 01-15-2012 08:25 PM

I would like to thank everyone from the PGCA that showed up for DGC's first Side X Side shoot. I hope agood time was had by all. It was nice to meet all of you. A very special thanks to Mark for setting up the display area. I just received my first real Parker last Friday. After talking to you guys I'm all in. I am very proud to be associated with people like you!

Tom

Dean Romig 01-15-2012 08:47 PM

Welcome aboard Tom!!

Mark Ouellette 01-16-2012 07:20 AM

On a cold day in Michigan 29 intrepid souls gathered for the Detroit Gun Club's SxS and Pump Gun Shoot. Of those there were at least 7 PGCA members who braved the cold.

A special thanks goes to Eric and Terry who although on the injured list manned the PGCA display while others shot the 100 round sporting clays course.

Cold or no cold it looks like you boys had a great time! Mark....Thank you for setting up the PGCA display and thank you to Eric and Terry for manning it.... I especially like seeing the young guys out there shooting these old guns. They are our future....:)

Am I not seeing Anderson in these pictures? I figured if there was a chance to shoot some clays he would be there....

Mark Ouellette 01-16-2012 10:02 AM

Being a former Soldier the COB was AWOL!

Destry L. Hoffard 01-16-2012 10:09 AM

Looks like you boys had a good time. I thought I was going to be out of town this past weekend but ended up being around. I'd forgotten about the shoot, wish I'd have thought of it.

Paul Harm 01-16-2012 11:14 AM

It was a good shoot, nice targets, and great to see some old friends and meet some new ones. I let my "new" D grade Parker down a bit, there were plenty of more hits in her than I put on the score sheet. Paul
