Parker of the Month - October Contest

All who are registered to the Parker Forums are encouraged to participate in the "Parker of the Month" contest! Until October 25th, please post your pictures in this thread (and only this thread!). I will close this thread on or about October 25th - and post a new POLL so folks can vote on their favorite "Parker of the Month". At the end of the poll - the winning picture will be shown here:

http://parkerguns.org and be reserved for the month of November Calendar.

This month's Sponsor & Prizes: To the winning photographer/picture, Kittery Trading Post will donate a shotgun bore snake (in any gauge) and a set of chrome snap caps or a $50 Kittery Trading Post Gift Certificate.

The Ground rules are simple.....

Please post up to FIVE of YOUR (sorry - they MUST BE YOUR PHOTOS!) pictures in this thread.

We encourage you to enter even if you only have one photo that you like, as folks will be looking for "that Parker Quailty" that defines "Why we do this", so that one photo could be a winning photo. Those my be of a Parker, hunting scene with a Parker, still-life or even an action shot.

Members may comment on the photo entries in the photo contest thread and leave nice comments about other images in the thread if you feel the urge to do so. BUT - please do not post any photos in this thread that are not intended to be entries. Pictures NOT posted as entries will be deleted from the thread.....

Editing rule: Altered Images—Photographs manipulated for artistic purposes by applying digital and/or traditional special effects (i.e. hand coloring, toning, bleaching, collage and photo composites, etc.) are accepted. In short - "show us what you got" - BUT - the Parker Shotgun must remain "as is" (sorry, you can't make your Trojan an "A-1" with photoshop, if you know what I mean )

Occasionally, some member(s) or organization(s) may donate prizes for the monthly contest. These will be announced in the appropriate month's thread (as above). If you know a business that would like to participate - please have them contact me directly.

All votes and prize winners will be final - SO WAIT UNTIL THE VOTING THREAD to "express your opinion "I'll vote for that" ""

By entering, participants grant permission for their winning photos to be used as an main photo on the PGCA Website, Calendar (with attribution - of course) and maybe other areas of the PGCA site....

Good luck and let's have some fun with this..!

That is all...

John

John,

I vote that this gun be allowed in the competition! I really like that gun...

Besides, you did say that you were going to send me some detailed shots of that butstock, right?

Carl.

John Dunkle 09-29-2009 05:19 PM

AHHH _ SHOOOOT _ DANG..... I am so sorry!!! Yes I did..!!! I took those pics this afternoon (for the pic above, so folks could get an idea about pics for the contest).. And totally forgot about your request (I blame it on age... My wife blames me for being too old to remember anything...? ;) ) Carl, I'll take the stock for you and send those pics on to you privately, OK??

I am so sorry Carl!! Pictures will be coming up, OK?

As well - my great - grandfather would be thrilled you like his Parker... It's what it is all about...

John

Dave Suponski 09-29-2009 05:43 PM

John,I like your great-grandfathers Parker too! That is one fantastic gun

Dean Romig 09-29-2009 09:58 PM

John, Your great-grandfather's trap gun is amazing to me. As you know, I've handled it quite a few times and shot it at trap and five-stand too and for such a large and long-barreled gun it just seems to float in the shooter's hands as if it were a natural part of the shooter . . . truly magical - even ethereal. I might even vote for it . . .

Let's see it in color and then in sepia too.

Dean

Hey Carl!

You have a PM with a link to one of my photo galleries I host/run/programmed.. Let me know if you need more shots of that stock, OK?

Best to you!

John Dunkle 10-05-2009 04:38 PM

Dear Mr. Day......

The picture of the Parker itself is lovely... However - how you have decided to "accessorize" that Parker has me a bit concerned. Actually - more than a bit concerned and if the truth were known, I'd say.. ;)

You see, no self respecting fine-doubles shooters would even OWN a NAPA cap? MUCH LESS include one in a Parker picture (or *any* picture?). I can - and will add - if you do own a Porsche, part of the rite of passage is to ceremoniously rid yourself of such caps....

Now - about those cowboy boots? You hunt in cowboy boots? Really?? Now - that's almost as worrisome to me as the NAPA cap....

Nonetheless - I do want to wish you best of luck in the forthcoming monthly picture votes....... Indeedy - I do hope you get a vote - albeit - not mine... :)

BTW: you should get some neatsfoot on that guncase - she look like she's wrinkling a bit??? ;)

BTW-2: I'll state for the record that I won't drive around in the back of a pickup truck unless - 1: I'm in Haiti or, 2: there is a sofa in the truck-bed that I might recline upon during the sunny days. Being a NAPA man - I'm quite certain that condition #2 shouldn't be a problem.. :) ;)

HEH!!!

Seriously Bruce - my thanks!!!

If that was truly your "..best shot...".. Please, for love and money and all things sacred to Parker - please - do not post any of your reject photos...

You hunt with a camera???!! How's that workin' out for you??? :) I know there is a "Save the Whales" and "Save the Seals" and such - but wasn't aware of the "Save the Pheasants" and "Save the Prairie Chicken" was upon us? Who could'a guessed???

Dave, my thanks again!

John Truitt 10-05-2009 08:19 PM

Mr. Dunkle,
I feel your grandfathers AAHE 34" gun should be allowed in this contest. In my humble opinion it is one of the finest if not the finest competition gun parker ever made. :) That is one great piece. Show it off.

and without the quail

http://parkerguns.org/forums/picture...&pictureid=249

I can't decide which I like better, any thoughts?

Don

Dean Romig 10-12-2009 04:52 PM

I prefer the one with the quail. Nice DH. What gauge? A D-grade with a forend with full coverage checkering is a rarity - I've seen only one other, a DHE, straight grip, Damascus barrels, SKBP. I'm sure there are others but it was not a common option on a D.

Donald F. Mills 10-12-2009 05:16 PM

Dean,
It is a 12 with 28" barrels. This one has a replacement forend but the one below is original.

I have had a bad cold for over a week ,and our opening day dawned cold and wet ,about mid morning I thought ,its too wet for wading around in the swamp for Woodcock, so I would get the D,Under Lifter, 10 Ga. Hammer gun out and do a little squirrel hunting, just to get out a bit, haven't shot a squirrel in probably fifteen years but I have to admit ,I was having more fun still hunting these little fellas than the law should allow ! I hope this will bring back a lot of memories of first hunts with our Grand Parents and Parents when we were kids ! We will have them Sunday, I would like to submit these photos for Oct. Russ

Dave Suponski 10-18-2009 10:30 AM

Russ,That brings back some great memorys...Although I didn't shoot a Parker at the time. Fantastic picture's. Especially the squirrel withe acorn in his mouth!Nice touch. Thanks for posting them...
