Fall Southern Side by Side

As usual Rick Hemingway did a fantastic job with the Fall Southern. Year after year Rick has put on a top notch shoot and event. His numbers seem to be growing each year. Rick has some great ideas for next years Fall Southern and is willing to do what ever it takes to draw in the shooters. This is definitely a shooters event. Top quality targets, course, no back ups, shoot til you drop.

Several Parker shooters did very well.
Tom Carter, Buddy Marson, David Dwyer, and Carl Brandt all brought home several trophies.

Hopefully some of the other guys will add their thoughts and comments to this.

God willing I will do what I can to represent the PGCA and support Ricks efforts.

Trophies

I certainly agree with Dr. John about the shooting and Backwoods Quail Club. Rick did a great job will do anything he can to make the event a success and the shooters happy. We had great targets and great shooters. I do wish we had more Parker representation. I never heard of a single problem in the 3 day event.

David Dwyer also took home some trophies.

Parker also won some team events. I'll get a full list of winners and post them tomorrow.

Cheers, Tom

This was the best Fall Southern yet! I seem to remember some outstanding scores next to your name also and maybe a medal or two. They did a single barrel trap competition this year also. The number of shooters this year was up about 20% over last year and a nice group of venders. Anyone get any pictures?

I forgot about the trap event.
There were all of the events for 10 gauge hammer and hammerless all the way down to 410 hammer and hammerless. Pre lim, trap event, american classics 5 stand event, compak event, and a flurry event. And then the main event hammer and hammerless.

Mr. Carter,
I agree there were no hangups or issues. The staff runs things so well. I was told that Rick only uses trappers that are shooters also. They were all top notch.

Mr. Dwyer,
I agree this was the best to date. I look forward to next years as I am sure it will be even better.

By far a very well run, smooth shoot. Very professional.

Wish it was closer and not during hunting season...

Fall SxS Backwoods Quail Club

The weather was picture perfect---cool mornings and warm afternoons with low himidity. I counted 102 cars in the parking lot at 1 pm on Saturday. Bill Kempffer reported 30 vendors in the two big tents---Holland & Holland, Galazan, Green's Guns, Roger Bain, Vintage Firearms, Dave Kerr just to mention a few. Large club house lounge with wide-screen TV. Great food served by local gal at lunch time. Lots of shooters on Saturday and Sunday. Rick Hemmingway has quail and deer hunting available and other game in season. Something for everyone!

Along the lines of what Bill Mullins said - Next year hunters could book a hunt Thursday or Friday, stay in accomodation right on the property, and then shoot the events on Saturday and Sunday. A regular "Fur, Feather and Clays" extravaganza. Think about it!!!

Holy Quaquamolie (SP???) (Hate mexican Food!)

Now if I could just find that Harri-Kari (SP????) Dagger!

Y'all are subject to hear about parts-a-me showin up in the bait basket of a crab pot owned by some well connected Elsie connoisseur!

All joking aside, and barring the absence of a few good friends who might could have made things even better....What A Great Shoot! Dr. Truitt was spot on in his assessment of the way things played out. First class in all respects.

Hopefully we'll have even more representatives on hand next year (both for Team Parker and Team Elsie!) so we don't have to worry about no Stinkin Winchester Guys stealin our thunder! (Congrats to the Winchester Guys!)

Thanks to everyone who made our trip wonderful, and especially Rick and his merry band for making the event possible.
John & Lizard

Here are a few more sent to me by Mr. Liles....Enjoy
1) Ms. Liles accepting an award at the Awards Ceremony...Nice hat!

2) Mr. Brandt at work with a hammergun.

3) Can you spot the doe munching away...and this was at a shooting station!

Dean Romig 10-26-2011 09:41 PM

Dave, do you remember the First Annual Addieville Fun Shoot where the doe was feeding on the greenery 30 yards from the shooting box and pieces of broken clays were falling all around her? She just kept munching and never batted an eye.

John,

Relative new members of the PGCA, Ray Bridges and James Cowan also attended. James managed to get 3 first place and 1 runner up event. You need to twist his arm to shoot in the Parker challenge next year. I agree that it was a SUPER event.
