It's a DH 20 gauge
Howdy All,
About a month ago I placed an absentee bid at an estate auction on a Parker DH 20 gauge and I won. It has 28" damascus steel barrels, splinter forestock and looks to be a replaced buttstock. The bores are in very good condition. Not much of the damascus pattern left showing. At this time I plan on disassembly, cleaning and inspecting. comply with any needed repairs and reassemble the gun. I'm looking forward to shooting this gun. I will send for a letter on the gun soon. What a great little gun!
There aren't many of those around but I'm lucky enough to have one too. The stock does look like a replacement but it appears nice enough. Does it have the skeleton steel butt plate? |
What a nice little gun. Send for the letter now. You may find that the restock is factory done.
|
You've seen Parker or Remington factory re-stocks of D grade guns that do not have drop points?
The ID book says capped PG. A person could check the TG bow to see if a straight extension was welded on. |
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the nice comments. This stock has a Jostam pad on it. I'll agree with Bruce. This stock should have the points. There has been a mod to the TG bow. I'll post some photos today. This gun was advertised with an incorrect S/N. They goofed on the second digit. I thought it was from 1920 (titanic steel) when I placed my absentee bid but really dates from 1901 (damascus steel). Either way, I'm very grateful for winning the auction. I'm embarassed to say what I paid for the gun. More photos soon. Best regards, Jeff |
Howdy,
Here's photos of the pad and TG bow. Looks like a replacement stock. The checkering and comb does not look right.
The number matches on the guard, but it has been repaired. Maybe the original stock was broken through the wrist. |
I just cant believe that the long straight part of the trigger guard is a replacement to the original gun, the curved part looks different and may be

A Damascus 20.....! (Sigh) Good on ya, Jeff! They are few and far between, I bet. Enjoy!

Go ahead - You're among friends... |
I would really want to see a letter on that gun. The engraving on the trigger guard strap was obviously done by Parker Bros. so a letter might allude to the stock replacement.
|
Dean, I belive Jeff made mention of putting in a bid of $520() for this DH 20 in another thread. Is that correct Jeff?
Cheers Marc |
Gents,
In the second set of photos I tried to show the poorly executed modification to the TG bow. The surface finish at the weld is rough and unfinished. When the time comes to convert this gun back to the original configuration, I will be seeking help and advise here. I won't be able to proceed for a while. Much research to do first and funds to save up. I can break down the purchase price. 1.) winning auction bid. . . . . . . . .$400.00 2.) auction house fee 15% . . . . . .$ 60.00 3.) shipping & handling. . . . . . . . .$ 64.00 4.) FFL transfer w/ background ck. $ 30.00 -------------- $554.00 This stated, it probably leaves me with a little wiggle room for stuff like requesting a letter, etc. Best regards, Jeff |

I WOOD SAY SO.....! Good for you and enjoy the gun. By the way if you need a regular triggerguard let me know I think I have one. Eric |
