What Parker do I have and what's it worth?
 

I have a Parker Bros. side by side shot gun. It looks to be a 20 gauge. On the top of the barrel it says Parker Bros. Makers Meriden Conn. Titanic Steel.
Under the handle it it has what looks to be a serial number 170636 which matches the number under the stock that has Patd. May 7, 1901.
On the left side it has a dog (looks like a pointer) and on the right side looks like a dog as well (retriever?) On the bottom It has birds could be turkey, ducks, or pheasants. Any help on what this gun is worth would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a 20 ga D-grade. How about some specifics (barrel length) and posting some pictures. Value is based on a number of factors and without seeing at least some pictures and knowing a few specifications of the gun it is impossible to even guestimate a range of value.

Jay is correct. It sounds like what you have, although it is not in the serialization book, is a T13 or D Grade with Titanic Steel barrels made in 1915. Does it have ejectors? What are the barrel lenths? What type of stock, straight, semi-pistol grip or full pistolgrip? You may be able to order a letter on it from PGCA. Otherwise the overall condition will determine the value.

Fred, Looks to be a very nice DHE (E meaning ejectors) Could you measure the total length of the barrels for us? The recoil pad is not original to the gun and detracts from the value somewhat. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Thanks for posting the pictures. That's a nice little D, for sure. The pad is certainly not ofiginal but the rest of the gun looks pretty nice. Small-bore Parkers are just special. Hard to value but ask around and look at some of the comparable 20 ga DHE's on the market and you'll get a ranve or value.

According to the "Parker Story" there is 469 26" Titanic barreled 20 ga. D grade guns. I wouldn't call it rare but maybe uncommon.

Fred: Since no one else ventured a guess I would place an auction estimate on your Parker at $10,000 - $13,000. If it had the original skeleton buttplate it would be worth more. In my humble opinion 20 bore DHEs tend to be a little more than just uncommon.

Looking over the pictures again there seems to be rust or pitting on the top of the barrels. If that is the case the value will be lower, depending on how bad the pitting is.

I don't believe all D's came with SSPB's but the pad replaced something because it is not close to anything that would be original. Looks like a hell of a nice piece of walnut. Clean it up, have a competant gun smith install a period correct pad and you'll have a nice little Parker.
