Finally
2 Attachment(s)
I was finally able to connect with a nice cock grouse after having spent about 24 accumulated hours hunting my bird-bare favorite covers in Vermont… VERY disappointing there the past couple of years. It’ll come back I know. We’ve been through cycles before and the grouse always come back… but at 79 I wonder if I’ll be out there after ‘em when they do come back.
But this week I was lucky enough for the fifth year in a row to have been invited back to hunt in Maine close up to the New Brunswick border with the Old Pats Society. What a great bunch of like-minded guys! Grouse and woodcock hunters all - And there were grouse there and woodcock too. I was lucky enough yesterday morning with my Rear Admiral Thomas Perry’s 1908 DH with 28” twenty gauge Damascus barrels. I had this gun on the “buy-sell-swap” table the night before and nobody wanted it badly enough… Good for me, not so good for the ones who opted not to buy it. . |
Congratulations. Hard won, but worth every step. I would love to have the opportunity with the Old Pats gang. You are a lucky man.

Evidently the Old Pats enjoy good company.
