Gun trading in 2025,how about you??
I've been a busy beaver and gone down a few new rabbit holes in 2025 eg 16ga. Bought a Remington Model 11 C Trap straight grip 12ga, Ruger 10/22 from the widow of a dearly departed friend, a super nice Fox XE 16/30 from a long time buddy and seasoned Fox collector, a very nice Parker GH 16ga/30 damascus, Fox Sterlingworth 16ga 30 near mint, a very nice condition Parker GHE 20ga 26" damascus, and a Parker DH 20ga 28" sweeat gun with great wood a trap comp and some nice condition.
Sold a Parker 1 1/2 frame 12ga in perfect condition to a buddy that loves condition, a Parker C 10ga hammer, Remington Model 11 F early gun that brought big bucks at G&D, LC Smith Specialty engaraved as an A-1 12ga, and a beautiful LC Smith 12ga A-2 live bird gun. I sent 4 more to Josh for the Feb. 26 sale. A Lefever DE 12ga 30", a Remington M11 No.4 Tournament, a UMC Remington M11 F and a LC Smith grade 3 10ga 30". I did buy a GHE 20ga two barrel set 20/32 and 20/30 that I sold back to a good friend, decide the gun wasn't in my wheel house. How about u??? |
Ya gotta love trading best acquisitions , are as follows 1944 Winchester model 42 skeet, 1924 Parker VH 20 Gauge, 1955 Winchester model 12 20 gauge, and I re acquired a gun that I wish I had kept a 1987 Beretta A303 ( A duck killing machine). Key departures are 2 20 gauge Parker Reproductions, 1969 AYA #2 20 gauge and a 1922 Parker PH 12 gauge.

I’m a small time collector and have only bought one gun this year. It is a 1921 GHE 12ga. with 28 inch barrels.
|
I sold a field used 20 gauge, pistol grip, single trigger repro that had been good to me in the field to a fellow PGCA member (I hope I don’t regret it) and bought a beautiful straight grip, double trigger repro 20 from a PGCA member. Sold a pristine 2 barrel 28 gauge repro set to a good friend and member. Bought a Winchester model 21 skeet 12 gauge that I’ve yet to shoot and the highlight of my collecting year to date was joining the “Men’s Club” when a wonderful and generous PGCA member allowed me the honor of becoming the custodian of a big, beautiful 8 gauge lifter.

I have nowhere near the resources you do Craig, but I did manage to add a few goodies to the gun case last year. I started with a as new Parker Repro, 28 ga, 26 inch Q1/Q2, with double triggers, pistol grip and beavertail. Probably will be my go to grouse/woodcock gun for the rest of my days. Then this summer I was able to acquire a very nice Parker D3 top lever 12ga that I was able to use this fall to take some pheasants. The only other gun I picked up this year is a very sharp Cooper Model 36 22. She's a beauty and shoots great. Now its time to rebuild the fun & gun account and continues my search for a nice Fox XE and Parker B. Half the fun is in the search.

I haven’t sold anything this year (much to the chagrin of my Immediate Supervisor), but I did jump into the 8 gauge world with a nice WH Monk with 36” barrels that are currently being refinished. I also bought a Parker grade I hammergun as a project. Also a Beretta S3 that is a great gun. I think the old S3s are under appreciated by shooters because they are overshadowed by the modern Berettas and they have short barrels (28”). Great workmanship and true sidelocks.

I'm almost embarrassed to mention my additions to the safe this past year or so because they aren't Parkers or vintage.
Due to my personal home life of being a full-time caregiver about all I can do for fun stuff is occasionally sneak away for a round of clays. So, to scratch my gun itch I've added two Rizzini O/U target style guns with adjustable combs & 32" barrels, it's been fun fitting these at the patterning board and then improving my scores with them over the summer. Not only am I embarrassed to mention them here, but I won't even let them reside in the same safe with my Parkers & Model-21's:shock::rotf: |

I am not in "shotgun procurement mode". I sold a few that I hadn't shot in years, but I did do some work to a T/L 12g hammer that I really like shooting. Now it fits and the triggers are no longer 9 lbs + each!! I moved a few rifles that I wanted to upgrade only because I like shooting suppressed and they didn't have threaded muzzles. I did win a couple of rifles and bought a few more after I flipped others. Won a 9mm PCC and a Ruger American Gen II in 6mm ARC (awesome shooter!) and a Ruger Mini14. Bought Ruger 77 in .22 Hornet and a Ruger 77 in .220 Swift. Also bought Ruger American rifles in .22 LR, 6mm Creedmore and .243 Rem. Also won a Sig P365 optics ready in 9mm. Life is good if you don't weaken! :rotf:

I recently sold a 32" 20 gauge LC Smith Specialty grade and replaced it with a DHE 20 gauge 30". The Smith is a fine gun but was choked full and fuller. The DHE is choked IC and IM and is a little more forgiving if I am not exactly on target.
|
I didn't pull the trigger on a Parker (figuratively) but acquired a 22-250 Remington Mod 70SPS (varmint gun) complete with Leupold glass and a cheap Spanish 28g, both for $500. Sold the spanish 28 to a gun shoppe in PA for $800 so for once I did a good deal. A 12g 28" Fox A, a CZ 457MTR .22LR, a Uberti .45 Long Colt and probably on the way this week another Tikka T3X Roughtec in a large enough caliber to kill a moose. I don't have a moose trip planned, but when the gun gets here I have to go moose hunting, most likely Newfoundland and am in conversation now with an outfitter.

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole lately of English Shotguns with adding a W&C Scott 12 gauge with the crystal cocking indicators from a fellow member on this site and a 12 gauge Gold Name Westley Richards. I have parted with two Parker hammer guns that I love but are not very practical hunting pheasants without a dog. I’m looking to add an English 2” 12 gauge in the 5.5lb range and parting with an Arrieta 2” that was a hair over 6lbs and really to heavy for the 2” load.
|
Matt I have been purposefully avoiding English shotguns. But I will say a sub 6lb British gun in 12 with short loads and 3/4oz of shot to me might be the most perfect grouse gun. I handled one at Robin hollow 4-5 years ago and was forced to put it down after seeing the price.

I've tried to behave this year and limited myself to an 1899 0 frame GH damascus Parker (got a bad thing for 0 frame 16s) and recently a sweet little 5# Italian 410 Iside. Selling some 3 screw Ruger single action revolvers, ended up with way too many.
|
I didn't buy any but I let a couple go to new, loving homes.
|
I picked up a couple of great guns that I have been chasing for over ten years. A VHE 28 gauge thats in great condition(95%+ original case) and a 410 LC Smith specialty grade thats still new in the box(plus shipping box)from 1928. The box is also marked "28"on the bottom. The gun has a ton of paperwork with three factory letters-hangtag and copy of build sheet with shipping papers to the gun store jobber in California. This gun is new except for a small flaw in the checkering on the bottom of the forearm.

Let’s see, sold a 16ga VH, a 20ga VHE, a 12ga GH, an Cogswell and Harrison 12 ga,a BSS 12ga and an RFM 20ga.
Picked a few…a 34 inch DHE 12ga, a DHE 20ga a GH 16ga, zero frame, a GH 12ga 1 frame, a 12 ga G grade Hammer gun. Non Parker, a Westley Richard’s 16 ga, a John Dickson 20ga boxlock, a .410 Thomas Horsley hammer gun, and if everything goes right I’ll be picking up a K20 later this month. It looks way worse when you spell it all out like this. |

My Parker collecting has been a mess for the past two years. I will not bore you with the details but 2024 was a major surgery and 2025 was losing my dad. During this period I have sold off some Parkers I never thought I would sell. I guess sickness and death changes a person. But my interest seems to be picking up. I did buy two Remingtion era, high original condition DHEs, a 20 and a 16. So maybe as my dad used to say, "the worm has turned".

Glad to hear your still in the game. |
The best thing that got me through some really tough health problems was finding out that the old shotgun in the basement closet was a Parker and joining this group.
I’ve met the nicest people I could ever imagine and collected these 26”, 28” 30”, and 32” works of art that I can go out and smash clays with. Heck, some of them even come with hammers attached. :) |
Reggie, Been down that road this past year but on the mend. new toys kept me going, they are 28ga repo 2brl set 8 ga 36" hammer gun, Bgrade SBT parker, 6ga was a parker also 300 wheatherby and a 7mm both german S&W mod 19 performance ctr guns mod 19 carry comp 1-1/2 brl and a 3in, and a 4" and a 10ga Parker, that is it I think Gary

Isn't it funny how when we're down we buy more stuff. Like "This might be the last time I get to acquire this or that..." I now have about six "Last grouse guns I'll ever need" that will have to fit into the casket with me. I'd be cremated but couldn't do that to the guns : )
|
I thought I would be slowing down, but found a few I just couldn't live without. Including a RBL 410 with 30" barrels straight stock and made to my dimensions.
On the Parker front, I picked up a 20ga GHE 28" Special Steel, which has be fun as well. I also bought a few back action lifters, which I just keep loving more and more. One of these Parkers is serial #17 and I feel honored to be the new care taker. Last week I bought an Irish 10ga single trigger/ejector gun 30" choked F/F. That has a bird counter in the stock. I am hoping to have that in time for a tower shoot this weekend. I sold a few as well, but I think it was another "net gain" year...I really need some help! |

Ira, I don't think I bought anything from Robin Hollow this year. Most of what I bought was from auctions. Though I always see a few I like at Robin Hollow, and I have been meaning to stop by to look at one again.
I did get that 10 gauge today and shot a quick round at Peace Dale. |
