New knife
 

Back in the day when I wore a coat and tie every day I carried this bone-handled Case mini-Stockman. Cool little folder, about 2-1/2" closed - it fit well in the pocket of a pair of dress pants. Well, those days are over (good in most ways except for my bank account!) so I decided it was time for a "big boy" knife. There are lots of good ones out there but I've always been partial to Case knives, so this medium Stockman showed up. I thought about getting the large Stockman but I decided if I wanted a knife that big it'd be a sheath knife. Amber bone, 3-7/8". Feels right good in a pocket (should have wiped the fingerprints off)...

Phil, I carry a small Remington stockman that's been my carry knife for more years than I can remember. The small blade is a little shorter now from using it as a screwdriver. At least now it's a better screwdriver!

Always good to have knife in your pocket...except when entering some US Post Offices and your county courthouse (both learned the hard way:banghead:)

I must be one of the undangerous citizens. I have never been questioned about the knife in my pocket. Even the nuns didn't give it a thought.

I think Stockman's are a great all purpose knife to have on hand. I have a few Swiss army's I sometimes carry but always go back to my Stockman or my small Opinel.

I have the small Swiss Army on my keyring but I gotta have a proper knife in my pocket.

I was going through airport security one morning and I had one of those “Trim” knife/nail clipper combos in a leather case in my Dopp kit and of course they spotted it. I had two choices: turn it in or go all the way back to my car. I wouldn’t have cared except it belonged to my dad; I gave it to him for Christmas one year. I put it on top of a door frame and it was still there when I came back.

Yes, I carry a non-descript pocket knife all the time, but here's a diiferent story. 50 years ago, my dad was on the board of Remington. Remington started a promotion of reintroducing a copy of their "Bullet knife. They gave each board member one in a special case. They claimed it was an "exact copy" of the original. Bull pucky. The sides were plastic - not scale. Walked this set around several gun shows and was accused of being a cheat and a liar for reproducing a fraud. Oh well.

It's still a nice knife John.

My father-in-law carried a no-name knife with celluloid scales and one blade broken off from use as a screwdriver. My son decided he wanted to give his grandpa a new pocketknife so we got a Case and a Buck in similar models and Josh told him to take his choice. He deliberated a long time and I think he finally picked the Buck, but guess what? It ended up in his dresser drawer and he kept carrying the familiar old knife. I always figured it was because of that screwdriver blade.

After years of carrying Beretta knives of one type or another, I bought one of the SOG Stout FLK knives when the first appeared. I read about it in a knife magazine . Have had it over 2 years , carried daily. Used daily too. Most comfortable knife I've ever carried and used. I still haven't resharpened it, as it's still razor sharp. Quite nice in the hands too. Prob my last knife I'll own for carry, unless I lose it...

Curmudgeon alert: I just can't warm up to the new-fangled knife designs. Good thing the world wasn't left up to me: we'd probably still be throwing rocks for our food :rotf:

Ya, my EDC prior to this was a CaseXX backlock with burnt bone handles and slim width design. Was very nice knife, but always seemed to find it's way to an uncomfortable spot in my pocket. Not a huge fan of liner locks, but this one's mechanics are flawless in ops and very easy to operate under duress.
Getting older has brought me to see the advantages of some ideas I might otherwise never realize how cool and nice they work. Like double barrel side by sides. And now desirable double triggers. Plus advantages of splinter forearms, and even a Win 21.. Who know what else I may come to enjoy.

Double barrels, double triggers and splinter forends have always been on my list; along with good old pocket knives with bone or stag scales. That’s my jam as the kids say :)

John, if they had put jigged bone on that one of your Dad's, it would most likely bring close to original Bullet price. I foolishly sold my full set of original Bullets years ago to finance a Parker I "needed".

Can anyone tell me if this is an authentic Swiss Army Knife? It was given to me 70 years ago by my godmother. I used to carry it a lot, so the loop is missing,but it still is useful, guarding my dresser drawer

According to what I found on the web that logo was used on Swiss army knives around 1931. Looks legit to me!
