"Friday Night Feed" at the Northern SxS

Greetings all!! We are two weeks away from the 2025 edition of the Northern SxS Challenge. Our Friday menu is shaping up. We will have various styles of quail, venison backstraps, deep fried pheasant/chukar/grouse (by Derek Farrell), deep fried perch filets (by Dan Steingraber). We can still use more hors d'oeuvres, maybe a main dish or two, some veggies and as always, plates/bowls/utensils/napkins, etc....

Please PM me or reply to this thread if you are bringing anything besides an appetite to the "Feed". As always, Hawaiian shirts are the uniform if possible and if you wear a Hawaiian shirt you will get leid!! :rotf::rotf::rotf:d!!

Randy G Roberts 07-09-2025 09:22 AM

Mike, text or email me what you need in terms of plates, bowls, and utensils and I will bring those.....

Andrew Sacco 07-09-2025 09:34 AM

Hey Mike I have to work that day, but am I allowed to bring another SxS shooter with me to dinner? I can bring a dish of course, or two. I'm done with work about 3:30 so shooting that day is out for me but would love to see everyone.

Mike Koneski 07-09-2025 12:17 PM

Join us Andy. Just because you're shooting another day doesn't mean you can come to The Feed.

Bill Jolliff 07-10-2025 01:27 AM

I'll bring deviled eggs again but they may not be as good as Stan's. But they'll be good. I'll also bring some baby sweet pickled beets. And I'll help Dan with the perch deep fry.

I'll be wearing a pretty Hawiian shirt but please be gentle when I get leid'd.

To officially start the event, I can bring my Winchester Model 1898 Signal Cannon and shoot off some of those 10 gauge blanks loaded with 8 drams of black powder. A nice BOOM and white smoke.

Bill,

I always look forward to you using the Signal Cannon, I haven't acquired a Winchester Cannon yet, but when I do, it will be your fault:bowdown:

Never too many deviled eggs.

PS. I look forward to showing you a certain prototype SBT that you put me on, see ya soon.

Mike Koneski 07-10-2025 07:46 AM

Stan is correct, you can never have too many deviled eggs!!

Bill, the process will be painless. Trust me, I’m a doctor!

Stan: That's great that you got that Ithaca prototype SBT. It could not have found a better home. I'm sure many others will enjoy seeing it too.

A few years back when my sika deer hunting friend had a cabin in the Poconos I spent quite a few evenings in watering holes in the Poconos and it amazed me the number of deviled boiled eggs the local guys consumed  When I’d come up for the PA deer opener the group I hunted with always wanted to have boiled ham/cabbage/potatoes the night before and of course there was a jar of boiled deviled eggs for cocktail hour . Needless to say I kept my hunting clothes in a plastic garbage bag until time to get dressed so they didn’t pick up the uh “aroma” of the bunk room :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Mike Koneski 07-10-2025 06:08 PM

Craig, those are not deviled eggs, those are pickled eggs.

Bob Kimble 07-10-2025 07:05 PM

Pickled eggs, yum!

Bob, Sammy makes outstanding pickled red beet eggs. Maybe I can persuade her to make a batch for the feed?

Sara LeFever 07-11-2025 07:13 AM

Mike, what time on Friday?

Sounds good! Better start now. They need to age a little. Tell her to try adding some onions.

Mike Koneski 07-11-2025 05:00 PM

Bob, she always adds onions.

I got a call today that one of the shooters is bringing 8 lbs of ground bison. I will be converting that to Sloppy Joe's. So, is someone needs an idea of what to bring, burger rolls would fill the bill.

Mike,
I will plan to bring burger rolls, unless someone has already offered?
Stan

Mike Koneski 07-16-2025 09:15 PM

Stan, haven’t heard from anyone yet.

Stan Hoover 07-16-2025 09:22 PM

Will take care of bringing the rolls,

Thanks

We still need soft drinks. If anyone cares to bring some. We have coolers. That said, any New England shooters that can bring some Moxie will make me very, very happy!! 😊

Donald McQuade 07-22-2025 07:19 AM

Hi Mike
Don't have any Moxie, but I will bring some Coke and Pepsi and other soft drinks.
