New England RGS Shoot

1 Attachment(s)
The Boston South Shore chapter of the RGS is hosting a fun sporting clays event on June 22nd at Addieville East Farm in Road Island. This is a great shoot with a full lunch after the shoot. RGS will be holding an auction and raffle for prizes including several great hunting opportunities and fine artwork. There will also be a fun side event held at the 5 stand for folks to break out their favorite upland grouse/woodcock guns and give them a little workout. And, to add to the festivities, there is a super gun store on site, Robin Hollow. This is a high-end store, and Bill Hadfield always seems to have some fantastic eye candy to ogle and drool over. I encourage folks who are in the area to give this event a try, it is a fun day, and you won't be disappointed. Flyer attached.

Thanks for sharing Don, I will plan on going. I have not been to this one before, it sounds like a good time.

Looking forward to it! Jay

I will echo Dons enthusiasm for this. It’s a great event, and its host is Ernie Foster, who among many other achievements is the publisher of the Upland Almanac. Hope to see you there. Great course, outstanding gun shop onsite, and always a nice catered meal.

I think there may be a bourbon and cigar array after lunch……

Don
I may be able to attend not sure yet due to grandkids last week of school. Can you buy tickets the day of the event or do you need to preorder.
Bob

Hi Bob, I will have to check with the event coordinator. I will let you know

Donald McQuade 06-01-2025 07:12 AM

Bob, got a quick response. You can pay when you show up. Try and be there by 8:15 - 830 if you are going to shoot to get registered.

Thanks Don

Good chance I make it !
But Beverly is devastated - prior commitment prevents - she was so looking forward to shooting AND bourbon and possibly a cigar !!

bob lyons 06-15-2025 07:44 AM

Great let’s plan on shooting together if you want.
I’m planning to attend and bring at least 2 of my sons and 2 grandchildren at this time.
Bob

I am showing up with 4 including myself. It should be a great time. The only hard part is picking out what to shoot!

Wonderful!
I’ll try to bring one of the kids

Glad all you folks are going to make the shoot. You will have a good time. If you are bringing young shooters, and they don't want to walk the whole sporting course, me and a couple of other guys will be manning the five stand to assist new shooters or guys who just want to shoot their favorite grouse gun but not submit it to the rigor of 100 rounds. I will be bringing a 20 ga over/under and a 20 ga SxS for new/inexperienced shooters to try. Overall, it will be a fun day.

I have just been informed by Addieville that the RGS shoot for tomorrow is sold out! Thanks to the folks from the Parker group that decided to attend the event. It will be a fun time. See you tomorrow.

Please post some photos of the event. Would like to see the Parker family in action!

Well, the shoot went off yesterday as planned. A little wet in the morning but the rain moved out by mid morning and the weather was great the rest of the day. Probably a bit warm out on the course for the shooters, but better than getting rained on. It was a great turnout, we had 146 shooters, and the RGS folks were happy. It was a bit chaotic in the morning trying to get everyone registered and out on the course, and I want to thank those who attended for your patience. Once the shooting started it seemed to go pretty smoothly.
The banquet was fun, the food good, and I think most everyone had a good time. I want to thank the Parker folks who came out to support this event and hope to see you back next year.
A special shout out to Clark and his son who drove all the way in from Long Island to attend, that was one long road trip to make in one day.
Hopefully I will get some pictures to share this week.

Just want to say a big Thank You to Donald McQuade and the RGS folks.
Bennett and I had a great time - worth the long drive around - the ferry schedule would have gotten us in too late.
We made new friends, shot with a fellow apple grower from MA and his family.
The food was terrific. The bottle of Bourbon I brought home for Beverly is going to be cracked open tonight:)
An observation; it was easy to pick out my gun on the rack as we moved from station to station, its was the only SXS there.
And happy to say, my shooting performance improved 300% from the Southern!
Best to all C & B -Clark and Bennett
