SOUTHERN S/S RESULTS-RANDY ROBERTS

I just looked at results of this year's event. Congratulations to Randy Roberts with a score of 48 in the CSM American Classic 12 GA Hammerless!! First place finish.

I believe Randy was high gun in at least 1 other category as well. Lots of Parker shooters were at or near the top of events. I saw Shane Hoover’s name on top at least once and Ed Blake too. I saw your name near the top of a 28 gauge event too Bob. Nicely done.

Thanks Bob. I shot the course well on a few rounds, not so well on others. Shot the 5 stands well in the dove field also. Unfortunately, I faltered when attempting to qualify for the Parker team ending up as the alternate or what is also known as the first loser :) But alas, no worries there. Team Parker did not need any help from me putting a whoopin on them LCS boys. All in good fun of course.

The Southern was a real good time for me. Picked up a pretty nice gun, had a great time staying with Jim Hall and his son Benjamin and Jeff Kuss, and was reminded that there are some pretty darn nice folks in the PGCA. Every now and then someone does something that restores the faith, not that I lost it. Thank you Dan, much appreciated. Ought to be a PP article in that story on down the road.

I'm glad Randy let's me hang around with him! Wish his shooting would rub off on me:bowdown:

Chuck I seem to recall you having quite the round with that little 28 gauge GH. I do believe that was the best I ever saw you shoot it. Could be that Margaret was watching and you were showing off :)

Funny thing about Chuck and the 28ga. He borrowed mine one year and a while later I saw him approaching me after the round with a HUUGE grin on his face saying "this was the best round I've ever shot on the clays course". Seems the 28 really likes Chuck.

Wish mine had 30" barrels like yours Daryl! Yours pointed like a dream. Oh well, you can't have everything:rotf:

Daryl let me shoot that 30” 28 the first time I went to Hausemanns and it almost cost me a pocketful of change ! Shortly after Allgood offered me a VHE 28 30” before he had it in his hands . Ended up the deal fell thru so I of course didn’t get it . Would liked to have had the gun but I breathed a sigh of relief not having to write the check :rotf:

All it takes is being at the right place at the right time with enough money.:) I was lucky.

This is what happens when Randy let’s you borrow his gun…

I am never using my Parker hammer gun again…as long as Randy has one for me!

Thanks Randy!

That's funny stuff right there. It'll be there next year. Go Team Parker.

Congratulations Brian and Randy (and to the others on that board). I’m not a clays shooter, but after watching with expert commentary from Mountain Mike at the tent this year, I have even more respect for those scores…and I now have a much better understanding of the need for tight chokes and the aid of long barrels in swinging on those long crossers (and maybe binoculars!). I can see lots of practice and commitment in those scores. I’ll stick with my more open chokes and shorter range live targets over my pups, but seeing the action was eye opening.:bowdown:

You don’t put up those kinds of scores without a lot of practice and dedication. And throw in a little talent as well. Great shooting team Parker!

John Reed 05-04-2025 10:47 AM

I wasn't at the hammergun event, but the hammer less gun event on Saturday took nothing more than skeet or IC chokes for the qualifier or shootoff. It was definitely a great time!!

:rotf::rotf: I won my usual share of bling again. Gave some easy birds away or would have “brung more bling”. Actually cut back by 5 course events this year for various reasons but still shot 1,020 targets. Glad I cut back. There were a lot more shooters this year than in years past.

Our Parker shooters did well!! REP-RE-SENT!!
