Walmart stops selling ammo

The plymouth Massachusetts Wal-Mart has stopped selling ammunition. Is this state/country wide?

Dean Romig 03-01-2025 11:08 AM

Wally World still sells ammo and guns in Maine.

It's just a MA-hole thing...

.

Austin J Hawthorne Jr. 03-01-2025 11:38 AM

Jersey has'nt sold it for years.

allen newell 03-01-2025 11:41 AM

If I don't shoot skeet tomorrow morning, I may make a run up to the kittery trading post and get some ammo there

Jim Beilke 03-01-2025 12:11 PM

Redwood Falls, MN had all kind of ammo as of a few days ago

Kevin McCormack 03-01-2025 12:12 PM

The 2 Walmarts nearby in NOVA land still sell ammo.

Phillip Carr 03-01-2025 12:20 PM

Still selling in AZ

allen newell 03-01-2025 12:24 PM

I think Dean's correct. This may just be a Massachusetts thing.

I wonder it Walmart sells ammo in New York and California...

CraigThompson 03-01-2025 01:36 PM

I was in a Walmart in central VA yesterday picking up a couple items from the grocery section and failed to go thru sporting goods to see what they didn’t have 🤷🏻*♂️

Jim McKee 03-01-2025 02:19 PM

Still selling in eastern Ohio

Clark McCombe 03-01-2025 02:36 PM

Walmart in Riverhead ny - no ammo
Walmart in middle island, less than 20 miles away, does.

Scott Janowski 03-01-2025 04:51 PM

Some Wal Marts in New York Sell ammo. The closer you are to a bigger city the less chance they have it.
If the Tide laundry detergent is under lock and key, or the spray paint is locked up,
good chance they don’t sell ammo.

Phil Yearout 03-01-2025 05:36 PM

Still selling in Kansas.

Bill Murphy 03-01-2025 06:18 PM

They still sell ammo in Germantown, Maryland. I was netting promo 12 and 20 at $9.00 a box plus my time and travel. I went back to serious reloading. I think I have a lifetime supply of reloaded .410, 28, and 20. I am keeping up with the 12s. Walmart doesn't sell 10s and 8s.

J. Scott Hanes 03-01-2025 07:00 PM

Shelves stocked to the brim here in SE Texas. .410 to 12 ga.

Stan Hillis 03-01-2025 11:35 PM

Still selling ammo in GA Walmarts.

If you are just looking to get some ammo you might try going to Hooksett NH instead to a store called Shooters Outpost, it's about the same distance for you as KTP. They don't have as many used guns but the last time I was there they had piles of 12 and 20 gauge flats of Federal ammo. They also have a small but impressive museum of military arms from around the world. There is a Bass Pro is just a few miles away and right next to Bass Pro is a large Walmart that sells ammo. There is no sales tax in NH.

If you go to KTP there is a Walmart in nearby Newington NH that sells ammo and another one south on Route 1 in Portsmouth NH.

I'm cleaning them out of AA's every time I walk through the doors.

Stephen Hodges 03-02-2025 08:48 AM

Pete is right, I was in both Bass Pro and Shooters just yesterday and lots of flats of Federals in Shooters. They keep a pretty good selection of reloading supplies also. Loaded up on some 4 lb kegs of Winchester 572 and Winchester 209 Primers. Bass pro had #8 shot so I grabbed 100 lbs of that. Nothing was cheap, but they had what I wanted.

Mike Koneski 03-02-2025 02:19 PM

PA Wally Worlds are still selling ammo. I don't shop there but we do have shooters who buy at the Tunkhannock store on their way here.

Jeff Elder 03-02-2025 03:17 PM

They sell it in Texas

Garry L Gordon 03-02-2025 06:19 PM

There would be an armed rebellion if WM stopped selling ammo in my neck of the woods in North Missouri. (And I’m sure my neighbors have enough stashed away to stage such a rebellion.)

Alfred Houde 03-03-2025 09:42 AM

It's a regional thing. The Wal-Mart stores in and around the Fredericksburg, Virginia area still sell firearms and ammunition.

I just read that the original Dick's store in Binghamton, NY is closing. They made a massive mistake when they dropped the sales of firearms, ammunition, and hunting gear. I don't think they even have fishing gear anymore.

My wife's home town, I shopped there for over 40 years every time we visited there. They dug their own grave when they stopped catering to the "blood sports." Another classic example of "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" in retail!

Bill Murphy 03-04-2025 09:30 AM

I wonder when some "no blood" supermarket is going to discontinue meat and fish???

Tom Jay 03-05-2025 04:49 PM

Falmouth Walmart hasn't sold ammo for years

I used to buy my NYS non-resident license there on my way home to CNY or to the ADK. I always thought it was nice that they still displayed hunting clothes and gear in the old storefront windows.

I have not been in a few since now you can just purchase the license and print it out on-line.

My suspicion is Dick's will eventually go the way of many retail stores. Quietly closing locations down.

Kevin McCormack 03-05-2025 07:40 PM

Yes I always went to the old original store on Upper Front Street where they first started out to get my license for grouse hunting. My FIL inherited and owned A. L. Davis Feed and Hardware, downtown a couple of blocks up from the "Minuteman" statue right where the Chenango River runs into the Susquehanna. They sold everything from loose shot in bins to huge farm combines. Unfortunately he sold out years before I met my wife. He remembered selling Parkers (mostly used) and lots of Ithacas, Remingtons and Winchesters over the years. Broke my heart when he told me his go-to "bush" gun for grouse was a Winchester Model 12 28 gauge bored IC. He claimed no one would buy it because it wouldn't "shoot close", so he claimed it for himself. He couldn't remember who he sold it to, a store employee most likely. It is still out there!

Brian Dudley 03-06-2025 07:15 AM

I think Allen was looking in the wrong department.

Stephen Hodges 03-06-2025 08:48 AM

New Hampshire Walmart Stores not only have a great selection of ammunition but they also sell firearms. Both rifles and shotguns. And most stores have a nice selection of both.

allen newell 03-06-2025 10:20 AM

Brian, I looked in the same place/shelf where theve been for years. Store Mgr said they dropped ammo from sales

Austin J Hawthorne Jr. 03-06-2025 06:05 PM

The Dicks in New Jersey even stopped selling hunting licenses two years ago. For what it's worth. there were also about a half dozen Pita people with signs reading "Ban The Bear Hunt" a few weeks ago. I guess everyone need a platform.

My local Walmart carries these. In 12 ga. and with 1 1/8 oz. and 1145 fps they are a favorite of mine. Last week they were $14.99.

Winchester AA’s were still less than $11/box at Walmart as of yesterday.
