About as far from a double as you can get
I have this cool old Daisy 118 Target Special (called the Targeteer). It's got an adjustable rear sight so I'm told that marks it as late '40's. They take a special BB and I've never shot it. I'm watching a tube on the bay but I read somewhere that a certain size shotgun pellet will work. It's marked .118 caliber but I don't see any pellet that matches that. Anybody have an idea what might work...

Be careful, you could put your eye out with that!

I wonder is #6 copper plated shot would work?
|
For plated shot, the size is as plated. Therefore, #6 (plated or not) may be a tad too small. Also try #5 shot.

No. 6 is .110"
No. 5 is .120" Apparently most guys use No. 6 https://photos.smugmug.com/Gun-Stuff...ections-XL.png |
Thanks Rev; I was just gonna start casting about for a manual!

and if memory serves me right. I measured the pellets to be 5s it isn't very powerful- I used to put a target on a paper grocery bag with a sheet of crumpled newspaper inside and the pellet would not penetrate the back side of the bag |

I bought a partial tube of Targeteer BB's on ebay; this one is also for sale. Advertised as a full tube but to me these look like full size BB's or maybe shotgun pellets. I asked the seller; he doesn't know and doesn't have a way to measure them. So, opinions? Since I already have a tube coming I don't need another and don't need the BB's if I can't shoot them.

Phil, maybe even farther from a double, but Lefever related. There may have two or more designs. I seem to remember one was called a Liquid Gun , and this one is the Daisy No. 71 Water Pistol.

Phil possibly 5 1/2 shot would be closest.
Daryls posting of the gun above reminded me of a pistol we had as a kid called a Spud gun. I found a picture of an example on the web. |
Phil, did it shoot a raw potato loading ?
|
You pushed the end of the barrel into a raw potatoes, and then turn the gun to the side breaking off a piece of potato. Pulling the trigger shot the piece of potato about the size of a 22 caliber out the end of the barrel.

It's all coming back to me, now. Thanks
