16 ga Win 21 Trap-Skeet?

What would be a ballpark price for a refinished Win 21 marked Trap-Skeet 16 gauge WS-1 WS-2? Don't know who refinished it. https://i.postimg.cc/QtBZ94D3/1358414-IMG-7507.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mkvLgx1J/IMG-1233.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/VkYTbfPw/IMG-1234.jpg

These that I have looked at that have sold on various auctions bring $4500-6000.

Bill Murphy 02-22-2025 05:24 PM

How long are the barrels? 28" are pricier than 26".

Eddie Kay 02-22-2025 08:16 PM

26",I'll double check they do look longer. Four digit serial number . Don't have picture of the barrels yet, saying 2 9/16 chamber.

Bill Murphy 02-23-2025 08:49 AM

The edge on the top of the receiver makes me suspect that it hasn't been refinished. Have to see more to tell. The floorplate, if perfect blue finish, would indicate a refinish. Nice looking gun, most likely 26".

I've not seen these guns (sub gauge) in the 5-6K range even well worn and tired
I recently acquired a 20 gauge Trap Skeet in beautifully admirable original condition (90%) and willingly gave 10K.
Winchester just didn't make that many.

Here's a 16 gauge Tournament skeet, again in beautiful admirable original condition.
Private party first vetted me and then agreed to take 8K.

These are scarce and beautiful guns, hell on a Skeet field and perfect upland Quail getters.

Looking at the degradation in the blue I would venture a guess that the metal finishes on your gun are original.
The wood should show equi imperfections to prove its' originality. Negative on the 2 9/16 chambers. 2 3/4 or 3" only.
How about more pictures please. Floor plate please and clear pictures of each side of the butt stock.
Have you got Cody info on this gun? I'd be interested to see if it began its' existance with a checkered butt.

A member of another close friends' "Geezer Squad" showed up for SC this AM with a M21 identical to Eddie's gun. They are simply sublime; so sleek, well balanced and fast handling! Smoked a fine imported cigar just afterwards just thinking about it.

I agree with Kevin. This 16 weighs 6lbs. 11oz. and is an excellent late season rooster gun. This gun is balanced, light, and will shoot heavy loads for late season wild roosters. I also prefer the splinter fore end.

Bobby Cash 02-24-2025 08:40 AM

While I wouldn't say rare, splinter forends are somewhat scarce on 21's.
Nice stick of wood too!

Bill Murphy 02-24-2025 08:51 AM

As Bobby mentioned, we still need a picture of the floorplate. That picture will tell us about the originality of the finish. So far, the gun does not look to be refinished.

Just picked up a dandy 20ga 21 straight grip, splinter forearm, single trigger. ejectors, 26" barrels, IC,M 6lbs 3oz. Very good original condition. Handles like a dream, one of my dream guns. My father always talked of 21s but never owned one. Wish he was here to play with it.

Bill Murphy 02-24-2025 03:21 PM

My dad was 62 when he bought his first 21s. He became a 21 guy immediately.

Jim Beilke 02-24-2025 08:14 PM

Pop always told me he could have afforded one thru the 40s and 50s but was too cheap to buy one by his own admission

CraigThompson 02-24-2025 10:04 PM

We had a model 21 Grand American grade in the shop for a going over cleaning and test firing . When they got done with the cleaning etc I volunteered to test fire in the snail . I figured it would be the only time I had a chance to shoot one of that grade :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Old girl look's reblued and tired. Gonna pass. https://i.postimg.cc/G3Gf7VVM/IMG-0769.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/CxhPP1p7/IMG-0768.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cHzGZ30d/IMG-0765.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/3RzpGLYV/IMG-0766.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/VL8gH6PT/IMG-0774.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/6TJmMLL1/IMG-0773.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/pTFG8qp7/IMG-0770.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/4djzvgrb/IMG-0775.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/pL1BRzcc/IMG-0764.jpg

Looks like an old refinish on the bluing. Stock has been refinished & forend has a crack in the bottom going towards receiver.

Bobby Cash 02-28-2025 09:59 AM

Apologies in advance if I'm speaking out of school.
I spent some time on the phone yesterday with Eddy and the seller of this Trap/Skeet 16.
For the life of me, I do not understand anyone who won't put a patch through a barrel when trying to sell a gun.

Condition kinda went downhill from there.
IMHO, Run Eddy Run!!

Eddie Kay 02-28-2025 11:41 AM

The very first pic's I had, it didn't look bad. Now I'm running. Thanks Bob, Ed

David C Porter 02-28-2025 07:27 PM

As a buyer you're in the drivers seat. If the seller won't answer or respond to your concerns, move on, it's probably got issues they're trying to hid.
