Parker identification please
1 Attachment(s)
I might be looking at a 10 gauge Parker tomorrow. It is Damascus barrels and a lifter mechanism.I don’t have a serial number.
|
It is a grade 1 with twist barrels. (Could be stub twist). In this period they were doing rolled “engraving” on this grade.
It looks like a relatively decent example. With original finish and decent condition. Short of the cracked stock. But it could be worse. |
What is the going rate for one of these?
|
Put it on Gunbroker.com with a one-cent reserve and you will learn it’s value.
. |
Ok. Just didn’t know if it was overpriced. Thanks
|
Well what did you pay for it? Considering the broken stock, I'd say $1200 - $1500.
. |
Haven’t bought it yet. Hopefully I will see it tomorrow. He wants $750
|
If the bores are clean and the barrels haven't been bobbed I'd say buy iy for that price... lower if you can but that price isn't bad at all. Once you have the stock professionally repaired you'll be at about the right price for it.
Once you get the serial number we can tell you the original length of the barrels. . |
He said the barrels are 32” and very clean
|
As long as they weren’t originally 34” you’ll be okay. The serial number will be the last word.
. |
I have one like it from 1881. I shoot it all the time with any off the shelf ammo 1oz at 1200 fps or below. Nothing like an under lifter. You will love it.
|
The serial number is 20852
|
32" IS THE ORIGINAL BBL LENGTH.
|
Pretty nice lifter, well worth a professional stock repair if the bores are good. Wow, 32" Twist and straight grip. Is it a #3 frame? Better yet.

Thought I’d share some more pictures

Steve
The barrels are from an 1878 gun. They are N0. 3 frame barrels and look like they match the frame so it is likely a 3 frame too. I don't have my book with me but if someone can look the barrel serial number up, you can determine if they are cut or uncut. The barrels are twist or plain twist, not stub twist. |

My bad. I didn't see the number on the lug. The fore end attachment should have been a tip off.
