New Years Day Shoot '25 Major Waldron's Barrington NH

Weather permitting I will be once again opening up the trap and skeet fields for PGCA members on New Years Day Wednesday 1/1/25. I will have the grounds open by 7:30AM and shooting can start at 9 AM. Please reply if you plan to attend and let us know if you will be bringing some food to share (The outlook for Bill Janelle's venison Billy Chili is good).

Like everything else in life Non-Member cost per round of skeet or trap has increased to $7.

For those who haven't been to MWSA before the address for your GPS is:

339 Franklin Pierce Hwy
Barrington, NH 03825

I’ll be there. Probably hitch a ride with some guy.

Not 100% sure what I’ll bring. Currently thinking cranberry nut bread and/or poppyseed bread.

Sara

Daniel Carter 12-10-2024 08:44 PM

Will be coming if weather and the medics agree.

Chris Pope 12-11-2024 08:07 AM

Will be there in spirit. Pls post photos after the event. Sure would like to attend some year! Making me hungry just thinking about it...

:violin:I'm taking a break from cookies this holiday season, so it's going to be quick breads.

Dean Romig 12-13-2024 07:20 PM

It's about 15 miles WSW of KTP Harry.

Update 12/27/2024. I have been watching the extended forecast and it is continuing to show a steady rain from 7AM to 4PM on New Years Day for Barrington NH. Hopefully it will change. Shooting clays in a cold steady rain is not much fun and I am guessing most of us don't want to subject our guns to that weather either.

I will give an update on whether the NYD shoot is a go or a no go around Noon time on 12/31/24. Watch here for the update/decision.

Dean Romig 12-27-2024 08:43 PM

Thanks Pete - it would surely be uncomfortable and no, I wouldn’t want to subject my nice Parkers to that kind of weather.

I would if I could......

I don't think I will make it this year, but I encourage all to attend.

I am very disappointed but the Weather Man is not cooperating. The forecast here for tomorrow is for a steady rain overnight to 10AM followed by showers. Not only is it unpleasant but with all the rain and the ground thawed the parking lot and fields will probably be a mucky mess.

I will check with the club officials about us getting together on MLK day on Monday January 20th if any of you have interest in getting together then.

allen newell 12-31-2024 08:48 AM

Jan 20 works for me

Dean Romig 12-31-2024 09:57 AM

We'll be there on the 20th if that's a reality.

allen newell 12-31-2024 06:52 PM

Hope to see you there Dean

John Davis 12-31-2024 07:12 PM

Only 19 1/2 hours away. Wish I could join y’all but…..

bob lyons 12-31-2024 07:43 PM

I will be there hope the weather cooperates.
Pete & Scott I have used your 10 gauge load, you mentioned at last years New Year’s Day shoot. The gas seal and 12 gauge wad, the red dot for some trap shooting and it works well, very easy to shoot.
I’m doing a pheasant tower shoot this spring and was thinking of taking the 10 gauge. I have got some lead numbers 6’s and wondered if you had any suggestions on a load ?

Dean Romig 01-01-2025 08:12 AM

For those who missed Pete’s post yesterday - tha shoot has been postponed til Jan 20th.

Was thinking of you guys this morning, hopefully Jan 20 is better. We have a blustery, sunny and somewhat chilly day here in Pa.

bob lyons 01-01-2025 05:12 PM

I try not to take any shots more then 40 to 50 yards
Most are in the 30 +/- range
Bob

I can’t answer for the two you asked but I use a 10 gauge at most tower shoots I do anylonger . And I use my old stand by Ross Seyfried load of 30 grains of SR7625 1 1/4 ounces shot an SP-10 wad and a 16 gauge 1/8” card in the bottom of the shot cup . I typically put an over shot card over the shot inside the folded crimp to cut back on any shell length deviations and shot leakers . I use that same charge etc for most applications of the 10 be it any size bird shot , bismuth or buckshot as long as they’re all in the 1 1/4 to slightly heavier realm .

Stan, I've been assigned to keep track of you and keep you out of trouble. A person can get into a lot of trouble in Amish country!

Stan Hoover 01-02-2025 11:51 AM

You have me worried Chuck, trouble, I don't know if I've ever heard of such a thing.

We really need to get together to shoot.

I heard we may see snow on Monday, sounds like a great day to shoot:cool:
