I have Grumpy the Grouse that attacks me and two gobblers out of two big flocks that taunt me daily while I'm sitting in a tree. Grumpy comes up into the tree and so close you could reach out and touch him.I was told today by some of our shooters that they flushed two grouse over on our short course. That's great news as it means our habitat work is paying dividends!!

Grouse season opens soon and Fall turkey opens November 2. I see a big gobbler going down hard! Might even get to bag a brace of grouse here too.

That’s great Mike,

I’ve never observed Mr Ruff going about life in the wild, interesting

A few years ago, I was driving in on Morris Baker's driveway when I saw a young setter that I recognized as Morris's puppy project. The pup was pointing very steady, but I didn't see anyone around. I got out of the truck to take the escapee back to his kennel. As I walked up on the point, five, yes five, grouse flushed. I'm not going to say that the pup held point, but I didn't care. I called the pup to the truck but he ran home on his own. Morris didn't seem surprised.

I’m guessing Morris won’t need to take those long trips to the upper midwest for grouse this year.

A few years ago I was spring turkey hunting here in NH on Boy Scout reservation land when a grouse started to follow me down a toat road. That bird followed me for a half a mile making cooing noises all the way. Really weird.
