Case in Point

Hello All, Just a quick note in Case you were not aware. My brother Matt had his knee replaced Thursday and is laid up for a bit. He is in great spirits and on the mend. Case restoration has slowed a bit, however he will be back at it ASAP. If you get a chance and feel compelled, a note of encouragement would be great to make sure he doesn't get lazy. Safe hunting to all.

Be well, Dean

Having had two knees and two hips replaced, I can say if he does his therapy judiciously, he'll be back in action in no time. Last knee done here was 12/6/2023. I did all my therapy at home as prescribed. Surgery was Wednesday. By Saturday I was walking w/o a walker or cane. Did therapy exercises as prescribe 2X a day and walked around the house a lot. Jan 30 I was cleared. January 31 I was in the field behind my Setters hunting pheasants. He's got this.

BTW, surgery was started at 8:15 AM and I was home by 6:00 PM, same day.

Dean, thanks for letting us know about Matt. I sent him a PM for when he’s ready to get back. He’s got a good brother, so he’ll be fine. As a member of the “replaced parts gang” I know he’ll be walking fine soon.

Elaine and I hope to see you both in KC next year.

That's only because Sam need you to load traps for the next day.:rotf:

Thanks for sharing and I wish Matt a fast recovery. I have two knee replacements coming at some point soon. Trying to make it through one more year before I do it.

You'll be back out on the dance floor doing your moves sooner than you can imagine Matt.

Be religeous about your PT - don't over do, but don't under do either.

Dean, any updates?

Dean H Hanson 10-19-2024 06:57 AM

Garry, Surgery went well. Matt is up and about, doing his in home PT and check ups. All signs are pointing in the right direction. Back to work a little and working on guns cases. In good spirits and happy to have a "straight" leg.

Thanks, Dean, for the progress report. Tell that good brother of yours that a couple of days ago Dean Weber and I logged just over 10 miles in the MN grouse woods with 3 artificial joints between us. Unfortunately, those joints don’t make you a better shot :crying:

Hello All, just an update on the knee! It is going GREAT!! No more pain, range of motion is really coming up fast and for the first time since a wee lad, the leg is straight!! I am back in the basement working on cases because I can now go up and down the stairs (only 4 times though) I had been in England for 12 days, came back to the States, then had the knee surgery, and now two weeks later I am back at it. Currently there are now 29 case in the basement that need work or re-doing.

On the sad front. I talked to Dean Hanson this morning while he was heading up to Northern Wisconsin to go grouse hunting. Sadly I am not going this year.... DR, PT and my wife allll told me to stay home and rehab so that it what I am doing. my 16 ga VH is weeping in the corner...

Well that is all I have on the knee front. Hope to be back on the bicycle in about 4-5 weeks. Thanks for all of the support private messages, and the thoughts on this site.

Don't forget to buy a raffle ticket form me at Pheasant Fest 2025!!

Great news Matt. Sorry to hear that you are not able to hunt but that wisdom will pay dividends in the healing process. Take Care !!

Garry L Gordon 10-24-2024 04:27 PM

Great news, Matt! I’ll see you dancing at Pheasant Fest?:)
