Wanted to pattern some 8 buck loads and Turkey loads today . Started with 000000 buck at thirty yards first , right then left barrels . There are ten pellets in each shell . Then went to 0 buck same powder charge etc but eighteen pellets again right then left .

Then tried uhm Turkey loads at fifty yards . First the 2 1/8 ounce loads and then the 2 ounce loads both right then left.

Should I visit an 8 friendly state a turkey or deers butt may be in serious trouble

Think I’ll load four of the roll crimped 2 ounce ones with #4’s tommorrow or next week . And give them a go at fifty for kicks and giggles . Might also try some Bismuth #2’s and or #1’s

I have to admit, Craig, that I can't see any useful information in your shot patterns. How about a 30" circle and the shot pattern uninterrupted by previous shots and other color, and a percentage?

Bill, post some pics of what the target he should use looks like. That would be a great help. :corn:

Coming right up, Mike.

But truely whether it’s helpful to you is irrelevant as long as I get what I’m looking for .

Loaded a half dozen with #4’s , couple more with #6’s and four with Bismuth #1’s . Thought I had some Bismuth #2’s but evidently I don’t as I couldn’t find them . I will say using these several times fired hulls doesn’t produce as nice of a roll crimp as I’d like .

Those buckshot loads should be deadly.

I’ve actually already used the 000000 buck load in the PH 8 I used to own . The letter for the gun said to make it pattern buckshot close and the gun went to a lumber company in the pan handle of Florida . I assume it was for gators but I could be wrong . The DH 8 I shoot now is a fair bit tighter choke wise , it didn’t surprise me that the 0 buck patterned okay but it did surprise me a little with the 000000 as they’re .415” roundballs and I actually thought they’d have more of a donut affect .

Get a couple Dr Pepper cans the next time you do some patterning of the shells in memory of Charlie Cleveland.:)
